Re: eBay madness

Well there is a little box underneath the picture that says "report incorrect product information".
Maybe we should all do that?

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

Superb job there Dazza, I presume you were using a flame of some sort to provide heat, otherwise the jig would have sucked all the heat from a soldering iron.

Re: Llewellyn Loco Works #1

That's a very good looking set of bending rolls there Daz and indispensable for jobs like this, are they a home brew construction or perhaps something made for the jewellery trade?

Re: Adventurer 3 upgrades?

My thanks to you all for the very informative replies, I now believe that I am concerning myself unnecessarily and that these issues are just part of the learning process which l have got to go through. I think I will be ordering one in the next few days as the longer I spend thinking about it the l...

Adventurer 3 upgrades?

As part of my research into the most suitable 3d printer to purchase, I have come to the conclusion that the Flashforge Adventurer 3 is going to offer me the best option to suit my needs. However I have come across a number of online videos that indicate that the filament feeder mechanism leaves som...

Re: Adventures with a Flashforge

Thank you both for your very detailed replies and as usual as one question is answered it in turn poses another question. If the filament is hygroscopic and potentially becomes brittle, what happens after it has been extruded by the printer? Is the printed model still hygroscopic and brittle and dep...

Re: Adventures with a Flashforge

Simon, apart from your desire to print with ABS was there any other reasons that you decided on an Adventurer 3? I'm in the process of selecting a suitable printer for myself and I keep getting drawn towards it, not the cheapest and the print area is a bit limiting but I keep thinking it's nicely en...

As an IT numpty I have no idea what Steve is talking about, but the very fact that he is prepared to take on this task gets my vote.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

I am a little surprised with some of the negative comments about resin buildings, I have around a dozen resin structures on my railway from three different suppliers ranging in size. My preferred method of assembly is with construction adhesive in a frame gun as you can build up quite large fillets ...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

I take it that you were using the waterpump pliers to break/cut the slate, was that an easy process? I ask as I can see a whole host of possible construction projects on my railway, I have thought about this process before but have never actually carried out any experiments with slate.

Re: 3 D Printing 16mm models

What a superb piece of construction, I must say that really looks the part. I am somewhat surprised that you are going to paint it as I think it looks pretty good as it stands, although that may be a trick of the camera and in real life it may be quite different.

Re: Ideas for a bridge replacemnt?

It probably not what you want to hear but it seems to me that it's the tree that has got to go. The angle that it's leaning at seems to indicate that its only a matter of time before it falls of it's own accord.

Re: First time scratchbuild project - Bagnall steam loco

One way of dealing with the problem of tearing in the thinner sheets of plastic card is to sandwich the card between two pieces of scrap timber, clamp together and then drill the required hole/s. I have done this on a number of occasions using whatever I had to hand, sometimes ply sometimes MDF and ...

Re: Anyone know what this is called?

I believe that they are Tamiya plugs and sockets. I have bought them in the past from a model aircraft radio control specialist near me (Kings Lynn Model Shop). They also do the crimp pins that populate the housings, I'm not sure if they do a crimp tool to suit as I already had one but with care it ...

Re: Warning the Saleroom Phishing Scam

I was recently offered "call safe" by Talk Talk free of charge, brilliant no more scam or any kind of annoying calls, in fact I sometimes wonder if the phone is working as it rarely rings. Mildly frustrating to the genuine caller the first time they ring as they have to go through an accep...

Re: Radio control and compatibility

That's one of the features I have found with 16mm, is that we are not all rivet counters and whatever you want to do is fine with the rest of us. "It's my railway and I will do what I want" is something that seems to escape a number of other forums, I have seen instances of someone showing...

Well I suppose you could say that you can get a long run in a relatively small footprint! However it's not my cup of tea.
