Re: March Photogallery theme and enter here....

On no! I contrived to get a couple of those as a Festive Gift, to do much the same thing. Most difficult kit I’ve ever made I think — whatever you do, don’t drop any bits on the carpet. I’m very impressed with the chains, I’ve spent ages looking for appropriate brown string. And you haven’t painted ...

Indeed. Thank you. I wish I’d stumbled across it sooner.

Fab scratch-builds too, of course. The Kerr Stuart is particularly agreeable, I think.

Re: Lets see all your scratchbult locos in G scale etc

Most on the forum do 16mm — but here’s some semi-G-scale Bulleids, shot for a video a couple of years ago. I suspect you can tell that whatever’s in that glass, it’s not London Pride.

Re: A tiny G gauge indoor layout

“This is what I produced for a 4mm backscene, but was still an improvement on bare hardboard” I suppose if you study your photograph, you might be able to work out where 3D ends and which is the backdrop — but I think it’s extraordinarily effective. The matching of colour and tone is completely con...

"...a glimpse into the minds of fellow modellers" I feel suitably chastened. So, just to illustrate just how off-the-scale nerdy I can be, here’s the amended, annotated plan / cheat sheet / mood board / user guide, I assembled as the rebuild began. Not followed exactly , of course, for al...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

“…how have you altered the proportions?” As delivered, Diesel measured (in mm) 168H x 115W x 324L but its wheels appeared to be undersized and the running plate too low, which also appeared to exaggerate the length of the overhangs at each end. I thought it looked a bit weird. To sit comfortably wi...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Thank you kindly! I did have a look at the real, cut down Class 08/9 versions, as Andrew suggests (there’s a picture on the BR class 08 Wikipedia page). Ironically, their rebuild would have been constrained by the full-sized wheels and higher running plate — the lack of which I was complaining about...

“Lima created a 33 along similar lines back in the 80s” What a clot! I’ve only just noticed, prompted by your Lima picture — Thank you — that I’ve put the lift-off roof on the wrong way round in all my snaps. This is despite spending ages on a wire mesh grill and red cooling fan (that you can’t rea...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Thanks for the kind remarks. The pictures are a bit naughty really. It is in ‘authentic’ Rail Blue and in most circumstances (certainly at this time of year) doesn’t look as bright as that. I could attempt to modify the dodgy bogies later on — but I want to finish the rest of it first.

Oh! I didn’t think the second picture would be considered an entry — I figured it was sort of background guff for the main pic… And it’s got a vote! Philipy — if you need to drop one, feel free. Apologies.

It is, it is! The ‘Thomas’ one, of course.

Fingers crossed it won’t look too small — I may have to organise the sequence of wagons specifically to disguise that, or attempt to.
