Anybody recognise these?

Just sorting through a few old bits and bobs and came across these bogies. Do you recognise the manufacturer?

They look to be early 16mm scale, possibly kit built. Constructed from soldered folded brass with sprung brass axle boxes and steel insulated SM32 wheels.

Re: eBay madness

What would be a fair price I wonder? It's a sought after and collectable loco with a professional paint job by a highly respected 16 miller but I've not seen one sell for a long time to compare it to.

Re: Bone Works

That is very impressive and I recognised it as Etruria. I'm originally from Stoke and have visited several times. A bottle oven would be a serious challenge in foam board!

Re: Loco name-plates

Clear silicone works for me - best not to use super glue as if you ever sell it on the next owner won't be able to re-name it without a paint job too. Have a look on Tony Willmores excellent Rhos Helyg Locomotive Works website for MDC plates fitting instructions - it's really helpful. MDC plates are...

That is very sad indeed. A really good supplier who also helped to introduce new products/locos to the hobby. Will be missed. :(

Farewell Lightline?

I just was went on the Lightline website to have a look at his superb archive (something I do quite often) and saw this announcement.... 'Lightline has ceased trading with immediate effect. Please do not submit any enquiries for loco lining or similar. May I take the opportunity to thank all of my c...

Etch primer and painting advice

Hi Just stripping the paint off a 1984 Roundhouse Lady Anne. I say stripping - it doesn't require any chemical stripping as it is just all flaking off leaving a lovely brass finish! Just a couple of questions if I may please... What brass etch primer are people using at the moment? Upol acid 8 ? Rec...

Re: Double Heading at Summerlands

Enjoyed that Chris.

Cheddar Ivers are great value live steamers, well built and reliable in my experience. They really benefit from the addition of a few extra details like yours.

Re: eBay madness

I see Simon (ANG) has another VOR for sale for £3250 so that must be their worth now I guess. Interesting to see the price of Tony Sant Finescale Engineering locos too - I'd certainly like to own one if I can save enough pennies

I think you need to be logged on to your account too for the voting circles to show - just check that your computer hasn't logged you out.

Re: eBay madness

Yes that is bonkers, If you wanted one they do crop up for about 2K, there's something quite clunky and wrong with Roundhouse's version but can't put my finger on what it is. John Please can you find me one for £2000 - it's a loco on my bucket list :D . I've watched 3 sell so far this year, all for...

Re: Merlin Leek and Manifold

Dads Merlin L & M has found a new home, probably the best place it could go. It is with a collector on the south coast who also has the Merlin 'Beast' and a Mac Muckley L & M. He is delighted with it. Sad to see it go but nice to see it being appreciated and being used regularly. We hope to ...

Re: Lets see your Pearse live steam locos

Good idea.....

Here's my Dads Auric awaiting a rebuild - hopefully it will be running in the spring. He thinks he has all the parts bar a bracket to hold the boiler to the chassis.

Ian - Mike isn't the only one interested in Pearse build numbers. I would be very interested in build numbers for the Auric and Lew if you had an approximate idea? Btw - the Merlin L & M has found a new home, probably the best place it could go. It is with a collector on the south coast who also...
