Re: What filler?

Really useful, thank you...

I have not had much luck with model fillers.. Either it was solid when bought (cheap) or used a tiny bit, and the rest went off in the tube..

Had not come across AK modelling filler.. I will have to look out for that one.

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

Increase the series resistor, and 'weather' the LED..

That must be a 'scale' 5.6mm.

Damn those pesky decimal-places!

Re: FINAL NEW FWLR LINE

There does seem to be a marked difference between your kit and the example.. I wonder if pressure to get everything cut and sent out for Christmas, meant running the laser faster, at a higher output? I have had trouble painting over 'char' on laser-cut kits, and have not found an answer to the probl...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

Have you painted the inside faces of the lamp?

I find it better to paint the inside of the model, and around where the LED is, rather than the outer face of the moulding..
Once the light has entered the plastics, it spreads uncontrollably, and it is much harder to stop it bleeding through.

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

You may have better results if you change the orientation of the LED? You get a (usually) fairly narrow beam of light from a LED.. If this is shining vertically into the 'housing' then it will be difficult to stop light bleeding through the top of the housing.. Another trick: You can file the end of...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

You can supposedly tweak the servo range on the 65c, though I have never tried it..

It might be easier to wait, and see how it reacts, with the MR603?

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Is the limited range because you are not using the full-range of the control when actually driving a loco?

On the bench, you can 'wang' (technical term) the control over the full-range, whereas we tend to be a little more restrained, when actually driving.

Re: Not sure why motor keeps cutting out.

You are drawing too much current from the battery..

6 x AA NiMH cells would give you 7.2V but would be marginal for voltage for the MLS card.
8 x AA (or AAA) would gjve you a fighting chance.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

There is a bug in the 'A' & 'B' servo code..

Changes / fixes were thick and fast, in those early days.

We are now up to v1. 7* on the firmware, have gone through a number of different processors, and now have a totally in-house Micron solution.

*As of when I last checked!

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

Nature, and physics, will always win..

I think you should let the platform have room to 'breath', as once we get some proper sun, I think it will damage itself?

Is there a thin surface, to the platform, or is it 'solid' plastics?

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

I will update when I have done more searching.. Yes, it is that one, and the module looks similar to something else I was investigating. If I can get something that can stop /start, and give a horn, that I can make a profit on with a retail of £20-25 I think I will progress it further.. We have a nu...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

No Steve, don't go to the trouble of sending one.. A video on one of the listings, does show a couple of different speakers being used and the difference in 'tone' is very marked. I think I might have found one that is silent until you Twitch the speed from zero, and will shutoff if the Speed is zer...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Does this card need a slight tweak (from stop) for it to start making a noise, and does it 'switch off' if you are stationary for 20-30 seconds?

Glad you are sorted.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Tested with a 603b1 board, but with RC Trains configurations... Works as documented. I have asked the question of Andy, but I can't see this mentioned in our conversations when I tested early releases.. I will report back what Andy says, but this is: 1. A 'feature' of this early board. - most likely...

How 'early' is your board?
There were 'features' in the early iterations..

Can you post answers to the questions in the last post of page one, please?
