Excellent stuff - my question exactly. How do you fettle the fittings?

We've still got plenty in use on mainlines over here if you want a few :?

Hi Rik,  sorry to take so long in replying to you about Emett models but I don't have a specific thread on them but there are a few odd entries here and there! I also post Emetts on Whymsical.com where they seem more appropriate.    There is another site you might be interested in... The Rowland Em...

I've had several airbrushes over the years, some I spent more time cleaning, unblocking than spraying with. One was a chinese copy of a badger, not great but they may be better now. I have an Iwata, badger and Pasche and although I've never needed any can get spare parts for all of them. I very muc...

Some argue that the fuse or circuit breaker (eg a polyswitch) should go in the negative lead to the battery as well. Sorry - just realised the above statement is ambiguous. What I meant was that the fuse could be placed in the neg lead instead of the pos lead. I was getting hassled to go out to the...

Thanks for the diagram Rik. Does the black lead to charger need to connect to speed controller as indicated or could I run a separate wire from battery to charger? Need to convert my Danny as a first attempt. No, they can be wired separately - as long as the charge socket and controller are connect...

Thought I'd see how she looked with deepened frames and balcony rails (thanks Peter for the idea of using dolls' house railing). ./myff/1817139/1-IMG_7881.JPG I'm not too sure about the depth of the underframe. It is scale depth in relation to the height of the sides but looks a bit chunky to me. Ma...

Hello, I hope it is ok when I hijack these thread. Can anybody here show me a wiring diagram for a R/C operated battery loco.? Thank you for your efforts. I like the look of that very much!  The open top lights are a nice touch and the slope of the roof makes them stand out from the norm. It looks like a 'stained glass' effect in the windows, how is that done? Thanks Peter The stained glass is nothing more elaborate than permanent marker pen. It's a ...

jackson Sharp > Leek & Manifold coach bash

Still very much work in progress, but thought I'd show you where I'm up to with my current project. Bashing three Bachmann Jackson Sharp coaches into something vaguely resembling the Leek & Manifold coaches. ./myff/1817094/1-IMG_7875.JPG OK - at the mo, it still betrays its origins but hopefully...

Thanks for the information. I just need manual control. I will look into learning how to do this since I feel cleaning track is too much time-consuming. Yes - that's what prompted me to go down the battery power route and I've not regretted it. In fact, just sold off all my LGB DCC gear so am now t...

BTW - a flexible way of providing battery power with the minimum of effort is to put the batteries in a trail car (eg a box van) and run wires to the loco. The Stainz loco has a socket at the rear which can be used to power the loco - so all you'd need would be a plug, some wires and a battery pack....

Are you wanting radio control or just basic manual control? I've used LGB, USAt and Piko motor blocks for my locos and power them with 12v - mostly Li-ion but also NiMh batteries. You can leave the track pick-ups in place but would be better to remove them - to reduce the drag and also to avoid conf...

I've been using a SanDisk Sanza Fuze for several years now. I got it because it includes an FM radio so I can listen to Radio 4 while pottering around in the garden. I'm no expert on these things but the sound seems OK to me. I never bother with the interface, I just create folders and drag and drop...

ps. this loco was lined in Humbrol with a bow pen, using a 6" plastic ruler for the straight bits, an OOO brush for the corners and a bow pen in a compass for the large radius curves. ./myff/1439262/Hunslet-m.jpg Graeme Beautifully executed. I must have a go myself. I've used Trimline tape unt...

Re: E.F.R. Pictures.

Excellent railway, Rik; I envy your ground level line. As a wheelchair user, I've had to settle for an elevated railway. Also as my hands have deteriorated, I have had to delegate my building to my brother. Dave. Thanks Dave. Some is ground level some is on raised beds and some on boards. So&#3...
