Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

In my formative years, many hours each week ( morning and evening Sunday services, plus afternoon Sunday school, plus at least one mid week meeting and youth group on Saturday evening!)) were spent in Baptist chapels in southern England. The fairly standard layout was the main door centre front ( as...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

I did wonder what colour it was going to be. I like it.

Are you going to put anything inside? With those large windows the interior looks fairly visible.

Re: The Leawarra Nayook Railway

Rodding and other gear is looking like its been there a few years now, not so clean. Yes, It does look extremely prototypical now, lovely. Needs a second look to realise its a model. Envy you the weather to be able to get out and do it, I have a complete station and some line side fencing waiting t...

Yep, I agree with the others about the aerial shot. It also surprised me how small the layout is, the previous pictures somehow makes it look much larger.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Thanks Peter. I tend to use those cheap snap-off bladed knives which can flex while cutting. Maybe it's time I dug out my trusty Stanley knife. Ruj Hi Ruj    I tend to use a scalpel for the smaller bits and pieces ( hangover from my small scale days), but Peter is correct that a Stan...

By coincidence, I've just come across the layout maintenance and crippled stock list awaiting attention from the last time I took my P4 layout to an exhibition... in 2003!

Re: Railbus for the PMR

That is certainly a possibility. However, when I compared it with various other coaches I have, there is not much difference in the door height. Possibly a scale 6 inches lower. When you travel on some 2ft gauge stock you do have to stoop to get in so it may not be too far of the mark. Interesting ...

Big Jim wrote: Sat Dec 02, 2017 4:13 pm I would appreciate others opinion on how it looks with the new wheels.

It vaguely reminds me of one of the old ( 1980's?) track maintenance vehicles we used to see on the Western Region mainline sometimes! Like the seats though.

Re: Railbus for the PMR

Jim, When Peter suggested that, I thought, "Thats a good idea", but when I looked at it I thought again. I didn't fancy trying to extend the curved front and the rounded corners and getting it all to match. Then, you are right, it would need new doors and I felt that by the time I'd done t...

Another suggestion David, neoprene rubber as in wetsuits. I wonder if that can be purchased thin enough, Thinking sideways from there, how about toy balloons? You can get big ones in a variety of colours and my guess is that one balloon would do the seat and back of one. i.e.: https://www.ebay.co.u...

Look at it the other way round. 19mm = 1ft in 16mm . If you want a fence with 1ft square panels, then thats fine.

Re: Vale of Fairway

Got a thing about post and metal posts, think they look nice. I also like those metal fences you get around large estates, not sure how you would emulate those in model form. Yes, I'm rather partial to metal fencing as well, which is in part why I added a slightly a contrived location for 'spear po...
