Re: Cheap and dirty point rodding
Just carrying on from your post - I have only 2 points with 'remote' hand control, both via bowden tubes - one a model aircraft ptfe 'wire'/plastic tube Point-lever-1.jpg and the second a bike brake cable housing, with stainless steel wire replacing the brake cable. point-lever-2.jpg Both are connec...

That looks very 'agricultural' Rik!
For longer runs, see if you can get some galvanised fencing wire (it's about 4-5mm diameter) - more rigidity and still rust resistant. I should add that I mean no offence with my first comment

Re: Northfield Tramway
Houston we are having a wee technical hitch with the photos, once sorted I'll sort the links. David I'm interested to see your images once sorted, as I plan to build a model tram (at 32mm gauge) from an OcCre kit and need to sort out a suitable power arrangement. If it helps, you can't paste links ...

Lovely Rik, positively bucolic. And it's the first time I've noticed that your passenger stock has some of the fanlights open - a little detail that just adds a realistic note.

You've been really busy! The texturing of the 'stonework' looks very effective - please do detail the issues you had, because the finished article is most lifelike. The bridge abutments look 1:1 scale

I used to learn from my mistakes and then remember them. Is it still learning if you don’t recall next time ?  Andy S. Thanks Andy, the overall effect is very convincing. And who hasn't seen patched up bodywork on rail waggons? Regarding learning from mistakes - me too! If I'm lucky I ...

If ever you want a little trip out, get yourself over to Montgomery, and spend a morning in Bunners Hardware . It is a hardware store as they used to be, and stocks everything you never knew you needed  We make it a regular trip when we visit friends in Shropshire. Now that sounds like fun :lo...

I'm in the same position, although the absence of trains on my line has been considerably longer. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

It looks great for a time served goods waggon. I also like the detail of the door closures, as well as the brake detail. Were those details 'home made' or features of the original kits?

Mmmm, I would have put a steel grate over mine I think Phil. The cost of fish nowadays is huge, especially of you have Koi. My older brother has huge fish that are worth in the region of 2 to 3 thousand pounds..... Our three goldfish in our little pond are only about £10 each, they have grow though...

All very intriguing. I know this sounds very nerdy, but I'm actually really looking forward to it arriving. Whenever we visit a hardware or DIY store, my wife has noticed I spend a good bit of my time browsing the section on adhesives. I now have a drawer full of all sorts of different types includ...

Hi Rik, Use any '3M VHB' double sided tape product, just make sure surfaces are scrupulously clean first. They do rolls of tape or sticky pads (link for pads here) https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Square-Double-Adhesive-Stickers-Including/dp/B07GY29CH3/ref=sr_1_8?crid=Y74Q6N3ZAFB7&dchild=1&keywor...

You've achieved wonders with the bogies, considering the state of some of the printed items in the beginning, and the chassis is looking good too.

A lovely picture Greg. When travelling last week in Buckinghamshire, we saw a dead wallaby beside the road  The most 'exotic' creature we have had in our garden is an otter, who has emptied every pond in our village of fish, including mine! My neighbour caught it in action in the early hours at...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan
It looks 'the biz'! Regarding buffers, could yo make some 'low profile' ones? They needn't protrude further than the handles for the roof ladders (I think that's what I can see). Or bite the bullet and decide that a narrow 'standard gauge' British Railways decided a single central buffer was the way...

Or follow real world practice and make your stock more decrepit, via the art of weathering.
