I am keen to go radio control on a loco as some of the lines I visit are better suited to being in control rather than chasing a loco round.

I can't see any reason why filtered dryer water isn't ideal. I normally use filtered rain water.

Possible water source

While I was emptying my condenser tumble dryer I thought "I wonder if the water would be any good for engines?"
It has been turned to steam then condensed so should be purer than tap water but it does smell of conditioner. Any thoughts?

I saw the prototype at Peterborough and was very impressed at the build of the chassis and boiler. This looks like a real contender.

I have used Hornby track pins as rivets as they are cheap easy to apply and look good.

A very good place to start. Mamod loco's run well on sm32 track, you do need to have the largest curves possible in your garden area as it helps keep fast running locos on track.

Old ones are still great but the technical spec of the more recent ones has really got better including double action pistons, in line oiling and gas firing.

On saying that the sl1 and its variants keep me happy too.

The newer designs from mamod are superior to the original design. I started with mamod track but changed to peco sm32 track which is superb for running all sorts of o gauge trains. Second hand track is often available on ebay if money is restricted. Points are the most costly part of the railway. De...
