Although other projects have been causing some delay, the Emett style house has now been completed. It has a garden with wonky railing fence, crazy paving path, flowers and weeds (there are always weeds!) children's toys and a chair on the steps. It is interesting to analyse this cartoon as Emett sh...

Looking good Dave.... I like the lining around the coach windows, you must have a steady hand to follow the shape so well.

. Buying a resin cast box and fixing wheels to its underside isn't model making in my view. Agreed! Scratch building, whether prototype or freelance, gives the satisfaction of knowing your production is unique. All hobbies need practice to reach perfection and the years of experience behind you giv...

That looks brilliant! It is clearly a stone, not brick, wall as the size of the blocks is much larger than scale bricks should be.
I guess that is one sheet thick?
What did you us to engrave the shapes?
I could easily be converted to this method!

Re: sheep wagon

And a lovely job you have done too, Paul. (Peter!) Have you used wood or  plastic? Looks like wood? All of my models are made from plasticard but where appropriate woodgrain effect is made by scraping with a fine tooth razor saw blade in the direction of the grain. I have been working with wood all...

You are absolutely correct in pointing out my errors. I made no attempt to model a prototype but simply to base my sheep truck on one I thought typical of the type. The door thing is interesting as you can't see from the photograph whether there is more than one, however, I decided that my sheep sho...

You might not have seen my recent scratch-build of a W&L sheep wagon which I posted on another thread. This is taken from the W&L book which shows a black and white photograph only with no dimensions. I had to base the size on a similar cattle truck which does have dimensional drawings. ./my...

Very, very nice Dave. The colour suits the loco well and the stock will be just right following behind!
Congratulations on becoming a grandfather. I think you might build out of something more substantial than cardboard boxes if young Reece is likely to get his hands on it !!!

Hi Rik,  sorry to take so long in replying to you about Emett models but I don't have a specific thread on them but there are a few odd entries here and there! I also post Emetts on Whymsical.com where they seem more appropriate.    There is another site you might be interested in... The Rowland Eme...

The burning question is: what did the Hon. Lord Duxssars need a 166 yard long railway line for in the first place?

I much prefer it with the deepened frames, the high riding appearance was too USA for me!
I'm glad you like the railings too. Much more in keeping with the period I think.
All three together will be nice looking train, keep posting developments on the interior as well.

I like the look of that very much! The open top lights are a nice touch and the slope of the roof makes them stand out from the norm.
It looks like a 'stained glass' effect in the windows, how is that done?
