I made one for mine, very simply and even removable but adds that little extra to the loco. Your enclosed one will keep the driver a lot drier than mine.

I've got/had all three, Millie has moved on. Nothing wrong with it and will run for 50 mins easily. Bertie is a fun little engine but slip eccentric, the Ragleth based chassis locos I have run very well. These are manual but easy to fit radio for full control which does have its benefits. I think yo...

People ask how I get away with all my lococs, the trick is to keep all your engines green. My wife didn't even noticed me tinkering with my latest purchase of my Argyll, She brought me out tea & cake and just said "Oh is that another green one" Not realising it was a new green one. Jok...

I agree about the colour, not one of my faves but I think the cream lining works well with it. There's 4 different blacks in there,  matt tank tops, Stove black for the roof & smoke box, satin for the panels edges and satin varnish over the running boards. It's given the old chap a new lease of ...

A month on and spot the differences, took a week to do the lining and quite happy with the way it's turned out. Still got the scratch on the back of the cab but will have to wait for a show as people can't send paint through the post. Looking forward to running at the weekend. ./myff/1822980/IMG_031...

I thought I'd watch the auction as interested to see what it sold for, £480 plus 25% = £640 plus shipping at maybe 40 odd. Sounds like a good price to me, anyone here go for it?

I agree on the hoppers, Swift Sixteen make some really nice kits. I don't buy many wagon kits but I do have some of those on the bench.

Great photos

I've never bid on an auction like this, quite surprised at the charges. Looks to be plus 25% of the hammer price plus P&P. I guess this explains why some auction prices seem quite low. So that would make an £800 loco actually costing you £1066 plus postage , so nearer £1100 for an unknown unseen...

I came across an ad today in a 2004 SMT, where Argyll was £1270 for an R/C model. Not sure how much help that is ten years on but I suspect it could be a similar price for a used one from a dealer now. Keep an eye on that auction :D

The Argyll looks very nice. You'd do well in that price range I'd say. I had one from ebay recently and very pleased with it, ran a treat at the club meet yesterday.

Looks lovely, though don't slam it in reverse, could end in tears :D The burner collar is to adjust the burner if required I think they usually don't spin as such but have a little screw to lock them in place, but this is of another age as it were. I could ro with that on my Argyll, bit erratic to l...

I've had several airbrushes over the years, some I spent more time cleaning, unblocking than spraying with. One was a chinese copy of a badger, not great but they may be better now. I have an Iwata, badger and Pasche and although I've never needed any can get spare parts for all of them. I very much...
