Those are excellent Rik. Well done at such an early stage in the learning curve.

Re: Scratch built buildings and applying textures to foamex

Hi Scott, I agree with Andrew, don't use the 3mm stuff for the building shell although it can be useful for adding detail, although I wouldn't try it for windows. Much better to use styrene srrips if you can't buy what you want from Jacksons or whoever. As for the paint coating I've used, things see...

Re: What to do with a tiny, barren wasteland?

Really nice to be able to start with a flat uninterupted space rather than having to wokr around whatever was there already. As the others have said, I'm looking forward to watching it grow.

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer

Well done on getting it going. I do like the pigeon basket, but 'nuff said about the barrel! However the good news is that you've made a start on filling a box with duff prints "which might come in handy one day"! (Mine is rather fuller than I'd like!) However, as you can see the striation...

Re: CDR Railcar No. 10

The printer does, however, have an SD card reader so I'll try that next, just to see if it works. My Qidi doesn't have any communication skills of it's own, so I have always had to do things via an SD card. It seems a bit of a pain at times but in reality it only takes a few seconds longer to save ...

Re: Scratch built buildings and applying textures to foamex

If you look at the pictures of the front of my Lower Bench station in my Inspectors report from last week, you can see a foamex building, with scribed stonework and textured using the E.M.A. product I mentioned above. This building has been outside permanently since April 2018, so almost exactly 2 y...

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer

We've had discussions about finish, size of pieces, suitability, etc in the past and basically from my own experiences I'd agree that smallish components work best. As I've said before, I tried printing a complete van, which was a disaster but adding printed detail to a styrene box worked well. Havi...

The Great Garden Railway Inspection - Mugs wanted!

OK folks, we are now on the hunt for volunteers! A number of those members who put themselves forward to do reports at the beginning of last year, seem have disappeared on us. The inspector is currently on his way to his next assignment but after that he only has one more line left to visit. So, if ...

Re: Scratch built buildings and applying textures to foamex

I've seen that site before but have no direct experience of their product. However, scribing stone courses into foamex ( etc) is dead easy and you get exactly what you want not what a dolls house supplier thinks you want. The texture finish can be worked up using a number of products, from DIY by mi...

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer

Those buffers etc are most impressive, no doubt about that, but I can't agree that Fusion 360 is easy to pick up. I've made a couple of attempts and got absolutely nowhere. I simply can't get my head around how to do it.

I'm lost for words as usual. Just wish I had the skills to do something like that. Looking forward to seeing a video.
Justa quick aside, what is the origin of the driver? Not only does he look the part, but it looks a lovely moulding.

Re: GRR - Light Railway Extension

It is coming on well and it's nice to watch, the steady progress. Just need a garden centre to open so I can plant a few flowers! Might be worth looking on-line at your local ones. We have a small independant not too far from us who don't normally do web sales or delivery but have started doing it f...

As Tom said, it's good to hear from you again. I was only thinking a couple of days ago that has been a long time since you posted, but I must admit I hadn't realised that it was almost 2 years! Time flies....
