Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

So yesterday I stayed up until 3am giving the loco its first paint! Then I installed the RC this morning and had a test run on the track (the roof is temporary) I have fitted 16 x AA batteries in banks of 8 giving 12 v and she ran for 3 hours solid and then I had to stop and pack up so very happy wi...

Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

I echo what the others have said, it's a beautiful job, well done. My only thought, just in case you haven't already thought of it yourself, is weight. The one drawback of using styrene for loco's is lack of inherent weight and the need to find room and fixing points for a sizeable chunk of metal i...

Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

Nice job! Have you worked this out from KS drawings? If you get fed up of cutting the pins, drilling holes and fixing; for 'easy' rivets you could use 'half round pearls' - commonly used by folks decorating their fingernails among other crafts. Various sizes and colours and very very cheap. Interes...

Re: New loco build - Kerr Stuart

First attempt my 4*se, that is just brilliant! Clean lines, square build, well thought out and detailed. Looking forward to see it painted. You should be proud! Hey thanks Pete, that's really nice of you. Definitely my first build in plasticard. I have made brass kits and scratch built rolling stoc...

New loco build - Kerr Stuart

With the weather a little unpredictable, I like to keep a few projects on the go in the workshop for rainy days! I have never made a loco in platicard as yet and having seen so many other lovely models made by people on the forum I though I should have a try. I settled on a Kerr Stuart inspired 0-4-...

Nice work again James, your video work is most impressive... I really must make the effort one day. Thanks Peter and I'd love to see a video of your railway. I just use my phone camera on one of those little tripods. My buddy Mark (Ace engineering) uses a super smart digital video camera and edits ...

Hey Grant, hope you are well. I am not so certain about the patronage, I think we just have a few regular customers. It's odd, but I see the same people on the train day after day ;)

Love the lighting - be good to see how you set up in a carriage - I have tried but never seem to be able to hide the wire running from the battery under chassis to the lights under the roof Hi, thanks for the comment and hope you are well Mark. I will try and take some pictures for you next time I ...

So hello people! Welcome to spring. In the time since the last update, not much has happened. It seems to rain every time I have a day off. I did make it outside today but a lot of my update is workshop based for now. Fingers crossed for some good weather. I decided I needed a medium sized brake van...

This looking great. The radius of the curves looks just right and the grade separation will make for a nice photogenic location.

I really can't wait to see track and trains here.

Keep it up....fantastic job :)

Much healthier voltage for that loco! The 1/4 inch jack plug is an audio plug, although it can carry voltage I would change that for a standard 2.1mm DC plug. The advantage being that you can likely use the same charger for more than one loco. Hope you enjoy the loco, they are great, I have one that...

What a cracking little loco, lovely slow running too.

It looks much better on the new chassis and glad that you got it running so well.

Really nice job.

Happy to report that the nut came from a battery box mounting bracket from one of my new carriages! Now back in its rightful place accompanied by a blob of loctite :)
