I am very much on the fence with regards to bringing my engine. On the one hand it would be very entertaining to be able to bring my own work with me when meeting other club members for the first time and playing trains with them. On the other hand, it's not such a remarkable locomotive- you probab...

Re: Butterley

Hi all. Driving back from Doncaster tomorrow pm nudge nudge. Never been to Butterley and I notice they have a Static Day on their timetable. Will there be enough to see to support a detour from the M1? God, yes! To see all the worthwhile stuff you'd be better going to the main site at Swanwick Junc...

There's absolutely no reason why not - you'd best talk to the modelloco group.

I think big-ted's got it in a nutshell............. I'm positive you'll be more than welcome to run at Peterborough, particularly when you say where you've come from. If you've never been to a Show before, I'll look out for the fella wandering around with that "what-the-hell-have-I-let-myself-i...

If you have a canal boat, you will know of something called a Sea Searcher Magnet which will pick up VERY heavy weights. Mind you, you'll need a well wagon to carry it........... https://marinestore.co.uk/Sea_Searcher_ ... agnet.html

Our dog only ever took an interest in the garden railway once - in 2008 somebody put a very slow Diesel on the track - this was the result.

That looks very nice - shame you can't power it through the overhead as then, when you have a dewirement the tram stops - it would save possible damage to the overhead. Otherwise, could you put a microswitch, held in the "ON" position by the trolleypole, into the power circuit?

Some of our trees at Butterley are over 20 years old, but they've not been trimmed back well enough so they're going to get cut off at ground level coz the root systems are so big that if we tried to uproot them we'd wreck the garden!

If it's any help, the vans we had at Butterley came in rattlecan primer grey with (very rusty) black ironwork. The 3 vans hadn't been run for years (we had to re-gauge them) but the brake had.

Mine (as you saw on Tuesday) runs very well. I added a pair of Roundhouse sand boxes on the front of the saddle tank, a tool box and jack on the rront running plates and a lubricator on the side of the smokebox. With lining out, name and number plates she looks well!

Trouble was it wasn't fresh snow, which shifts much more easily. That was frozen snow, which is a lot harder to shift (as the film showed).
