Thank you. I built it.

It's based on Dave's "Idris" plans.

Best wishes,
Dave.

Thanks for the kind words. It's very satisfying finally finishing it. Years ago I'd have given up at the first hurdle, but nowadays I seem to be able to stick at it. Here's the latest pictures showing the loco in NZR gloss black. I'll just keep it simple on the outside, no blobs and gadgets, or wind...

Diesel Outline...

Dear All, Here is my tribute to LBSC. Two and a half years in the making. I bought a bundle of old magazines from the 1930's and a construction article caught my eye. The article starts with: "The success of the Diesel locomotive on intermittent shunting work and short branch-line operation has insp...

I scaled one up for 45 mm track. It is a sucessful loco, and with its greater mass and volume it can run very slowly, slower than my 16 mm scale version.

Here it is in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FdQw78BLRc

Dave.

It is a 1930's design by LBSC for an O gauge steam powered diesel outline loco. Perhaps diesels were starting to appear on the scene then. I scaled-up the design for 45 mm gauge, and increased the width a bit to match my LGB stock. I've seen a picture of one other model made to the plans. The loco h...

DeWinton hauling a train up the 1:80 bank

This one's my favourite video, it features our first DeWinton loco. 16 mm Albus chuffing up the bank with the longest train ever - with all our rolling stock. The loco is out of shot for a long time but the audio is great, turn-up the volume, sit back and listen to the music. http://www.youtube.com/...

There's something special about a DeWinton eh? :) It is scratchbuilt. The logging trucks are fully ballraced and roll very easily.

The DeWinton is homemade, based on Dave Watkins' Idris .

http://www.davewatkins.pwp.blueyonder.c ... /steam.htm

It's a great loco, runs for a long time on a boiler full and runs quite slowly.

The holes were drilled for the nails :D

All the best,

Dave.

Logging trucks

Dear All, Here is a huge log on our new logging trucks ready to be pulled by our second DeWinton loco. The loco managed it easily round the curves and up the 1:80 incline. One of the trucks is a re-use, the wheels and deck have been recycled from a small outside framed truck that I didn't like. ./my...
