Re: Mamod Brunel - Mark 3
Being used to noisy burners, it took some time to figure out that the ceramic burner is totally silent. Only a very small turn of the gas valve is needed. The burner starts with a blue flame and then turn into glowing red. IMG_2387w.jpg Don't look down the chimney! I don't see any reason to ...

Re: Mamod Brunel - Mark 3
If the Mamod copper pipes are 1/8", I guess it makes more sense if the outlet is BSW 1/8" x 40?
I can easily push an M3 in without resistance, so a 1/8-40 might be a rather loose fit.
To do test runs indoor I made a condenser. The copper pipe used is 3 mm, just screwed in.

Mamod Brunel - Mark 3
Guess it takes some time to get used to it.
And some modifications are needed.
Looks like the exhaust outlet has threads.
What kind of threads?

Re: originally from Germany
My wild guess is Ernst Plank Spur 8 65mm, but I'm not a collector. It can also be what Carette and Bing called Spur III 67mm, which Schoenner called Spur IIa. At that time there was no common standards as today. And the guage was measured at the top of the round rails, not between as done today. You...

Faller e-train track
IMG_2316w.jpg I have bought some Faller e-train track for a new project. The short straight tracks (about 65 mm long) all have one rail cut and a strange coil. Is this a special track or are all short straight tracks like this? What is it for? I thought it might be used with the points, but the poi...

Re: originally from Germany
Cool! The old track gauge numbers are very confusing.
Just to be sure ... Can you measure it in mm? Or take a photo with a ruler?

Re: originally from Germany
Nice loco! What is the gauge? Do you have the burner and tender? Can you take photos showing the whole loco from the front and both sides?

Found some info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrainPorn/comments/bufo3n/egypt_railways_steam_locomotive_of_the_viceroy_of/ Three of these distinctive 2-2-4 locomotives were built in the late 1850s and early 1860s by Robert Stephenson & Co in Newcastle, each with a luxurious saloon mounted behin...

This is the vehicle I have wanted to build more than any other for many years but always chickened out!... This loco can be found at the Egyptian Railway Museum in Cairo. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3611/3513332700_6c53eccde2_b.jpg https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/324880/Egypt/Polit...

Maybe this thread should be merged with this one http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about10329.html I had only a minor issue when renewing online. The 'House name/number' field doesn't suit Norwegian addresses where the house number is placed behind the street address. The field went from optional o...

How many Victory kits were produced? 200 I think. (?) At NGRS 2014 it was possible to sign up for a new batch of Victory kits, but the interest turned out to be too low. Have you considered running your Cracker project as a kickstarter project? Or setting up your own website taking preorders and/or...
