Re: Another level crossing incident on a preserved line

We had a "Stupid Motorist Law" in Arizona. Basically, if you put yourself in harm's way you footed the bill for getting rescued. The AZ state legislature finally got sick of paying for rescuing tourists who ignore 'Do Not Enter' signs at flooded fords - etc., etc. - and decided that the AZ taxpayer...

Another level crossing incident on a preserved line

I am glad that no one was hurt.

However it appears that another wally failed to heed the warning lights.

This is why the UK needs a "Being B@@@dy Stupid Act"

Re: SM TODAY Magazine

Mine has arrived, as has the NGR society mags.
I haven't read Garden Rail that arrived in the week or the Church Times.
An afternoon with a pot of tea and the periodicals I think. :D

Sorry to hear of the close encounters with the NHS.
The coach looks fantastic.

Re: The Coverdale Light Railway

I hope it all goes well for you.

I hope to avoid the pitfalls of an unsuitable garden when we move again. I have found myself at times looking at the parsonage and its garden/out buildings first before even considering the parish profile.

Re: The Coverdale Light Railway

I wonder if the old chestnut about planning a holiday being half the fun applies to garden railways?

I take my hat off to you Sir, the amount of thought and critical reasoning that has gone into this project is impressive.

Re: Regauge wheels

The heat from a hair dryer can be enough to soften things without burning things.

I like the idea of jacking apart but I think I would initially go down the brute force and ignorance route and try and pull the wheels apart and down the axle while twisting a little.

Re: They Shall Not Grow Old

A Dick-Kerr was featured in quite a long shot. I found it fascinating, 90 mins has never passed so quickly. I know the B/W film from the time is real, but seeing it coloured and enhanced made it seem much more real than ever before, the voices were spot on. Not to overstated but just enough to add t...

I don't think so.
I will have to check in the pile of unopened post, I have a feeling it should be due around now.

Re: They Shall Not Grow Old

BBC2 tonight at 2130hrs.

I have taken two Rememberance services this morning and I am off in a few minutes to take number three.

I think an evening in front of the tellybox with a few bottles of brown ale and a bag or two of marmite crisps has been well earned.
