Re: Annual loco sales?

I think what would sell is some more realistic chassis of well known engines that are never going to be mass produced. Then you've always got the option of keep adding bits as and when. Take Talyllyn/Dolgoch/Corris no3, they're well liked but none of the chassis of existing locos are anywhere near t...

Re: BRAKE VAN

I use an ALPS printer which is old technology I know but you can print out colours you can't normally do as well like white, gold and silver. Then print out on decal sheet, the result are very sharp.

Re: Archangel Range

It runs as smooth as a sowing machine, for a two wick burner on a large boiler it steams up incredibly quickly and keeps pace with the regulator no problem, I particularly like the meths control valve and the cross head feed pump is very controllable, you don't get that feeling of it running away li...

Re: 40 Year old Archangel Coach Kit

I'm going to add seats later, once the other coaches are built, there was no big rust problem but interestingly the Galvanised hooks and the bearers for the wheels had a sort of white film/oxidation on them that wouldn't come off.

40 Year old Archangel Coach Kit

I managed to acquire 4 Archangel Coach Kits on Ebay recently at a very reasonable price which had never been built and were complete, although that was hard to ascertain from the description but I got lucky, for once. They consist of two VOR bogie coaches, one VOR Brake Van and one 4 wheel coach. I ...

Re: Coal firing problems Archangel Jack continued!

OK I have stripped it all down and found nothing amiss so have put back together and tweaked the settings of the slip eccentric and have finally found a setting that works the only snag in reverse only... I think I'll live with that.

Re: Coal firing problems Archangel Jack continued!

Thanks Dan, Just stripped it all out yesterday and individually tried each piston with its valve and off the engine they function perfectly with compressed air, So I thought it must be the valve settings which did not seem to match the valve events on my other Archangel Slip eccentric loco but I've ...

Re: Coal firing problems Archangel Jack continued!

I have had a chance to give my 'Jack' a few firing ups after work and the Coconut Charcoal soaked in meths works an absolute treat with a bit of anthracite in as well and I am getting full steam up in ten minutes consistently. Unfortunately the loco has developed a fault where it will not turn a sin...

Archangel Models loco on ebay

Ok its not narrow gauge but there's an Archangel models Stirling single 'o' gauge on ebay, anyone who owns one of Stewart's catalogues will be familiar with these locos on the 'specials' page, I only mention it as some of us collect his work. One of only three apparently, needs restoration but is qu...

I've used brake fluid before and it sounds worse than it is, what I did is submerged a plastic kit in it and left it for a day and the paint [humbrol) just fell off. Believe me nitromors is far more smelly and nasty to deal with.

Oh yes I could make one easily! My point was ( Sorry for not being very clear) that to fit radio control is not a quick and straightforward job and does require some special parts. I remember also Alan at PPS years ago and explaining to me the small markup dealers have with live steam models which u...

I've got an Accucraft Lew and that's got a special little metal linkage bolted to the cab floor that transmits horizontal movement to vertical. That little item is not available anywhere I've looked.

One thing I have realised over the years is that avoid small radius points at all costs and try and have larger radius curves, I would rather have less track with ease of running than a complicated line where you're constantly having to deal with derailments.

I think it might be because its really a conversion job and not just popped in like an almost ready to fly RC plane, there are linkages that are peculiar to each loco and last week I fitted RC to a manual loco and took me a day to get it installed, admittedly I had to CNC out a brass bracket for the...

Mountain Garden Railways!

Stumbled across this in my search for info on the new build SLM Rack tanks built for the Brienz and Schafberg Mountain Railways. http://www.buntbahn.de/modellbau/printview.php?t=8493&start=0 If you keep scrolling down there are some great live steam working rack locos in gauge 1 [ I think ] John
