Re: Small balcony garden railway

Thank you all for your nice comments! May be you can get Bonsai trees to go with them? I was thinking about using bonsai. But they seemed too low compared to the G scale rolling stock. Where did you get the chairs, btw? The chairs and the table (as well as the playing cards, the beer bottles and som...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

Thank you guys! The planting works really well, and will look even better as it spreads - I hope it grows well on your balcony! Yes, the Soleirolia grows perfectly on the balcony in the summer. But I'm a little afraid that the pots are too tight to fully cover the wooden base. Ready for the world cu...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

To make my little railway more "garden" I added a couple of potted plants to the base. For this, I was drill a couple of holes for the pots in the wooden base. In the pots grow the Ficus benjamina with the Soleirolia and the Fuchsia with the Soleirolia too. https://o7.icdn.ru/s/sharkoed/4/...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

I always wanted to have signals on my layout. But the chosen theme - early American logging, did not leave a large choice of signals. The only suitable signal is a red highball. I thought about it creation for a long time. The October 2017 issue Garden Railways magazine gave impetus to construction ...

A new dramatic scene on my layout: the worker tries to remove the log that fell during loading. :)

Re: Bowande Falk review

Yes, this locomotive was a godsend for my railway. It is interesting that the prototype of the Falk runs on a standard gauge. The manufacturer narrowed the wheelsets so that she could run along the 45 mm rails. The prototype works on a small museum railroad in California. https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

Hi Egor, You could add a photo background for some added realisme. You have white walls around your layout which undo the amount of detail and love you put into your layout a bit. You could make a backdrop on thin wooden panels, or print a photo on aluminium, like on county gate railway , and it wi...

Bowande Falk review

I decided to create this topic to tell about my most interesting live steam locomotive - Bowande Falk. The locomotive hit me with a lot of complicated technical things that Chinese workers were able to cram into such a small locomotive. Among them: full Stephenson valve gear with D-valve, feed water...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

An excellent little railway. You have really made good use of the space. I notice there is space for extending the line along one of the walls if you get planning permission from the other half of your household ..... ;) Rik Thank you Rik! Yes, I sometimes think that it would be possible to extend ...

Lovely video Egor, No 4 does run nicely. Now we need shots of the nearby railway!. Can you see it from the apartment? Thanks! I hope the admin will not be very unhappy if I make a little offtopic and post the photos I made this morning on the way to work. I apologize for making them by a mobile pho...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

I did not wait for the weekend and made today a small video with a locomotive 4 (Bowande Falk). I apologize for the extraneous noise, our house is located not far from the busy street and the main railway line.

Re: Small balcony garden railway

Hi Egor I love that railway, its great, very cute and goes to show you don't need a huge garden to enjoy your hobby. Loving the turntable, I assume its hand made just for your line? My only one concern would be the lack of a buffer stop on that line where it looks like a loco could run off the end ...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

Hi Egor, Great to have a russian moddeler on the forum! A warm welcome! Though it's small, you managed to get a lot of things onto the layout and together with the 2 live steam locomotives, it really is a nice railwayline. Thanks for sharing :D Hi Daniel, Thank you for your kind words! Thanks for p...

Re: Small balcony garden railway

You have managed to fit a lot into a small space . Brilliant. Thanks! Thanks for sharing Egor. Having a railway whatever it's size is better than no railway at all  Is the turntable motorised? Thanks! No, turntable is manual. It is absolutely flat and does not require any hole. Great railw...

Small Balcony Garden Railway

Hello everybody! Long enough I read this wonderful forum, but just now I decided to show my work. My name is Egor. I live in Russia (60 km from Moscow), so English is not my native language unfortunately. I use the Google translate, so please forgive possible errors in advance. A couple of years ago...
