Re: Infestation of box tree moth in north Suffolk
There is a bacteria that makes a protein which irritates the box moth's stomach lining (to the extent that they die). It also works with Cabbage whites - I've been using it on my purple sprouting broccoli plants. It is approved of for organic farming and doesn't build up in the food chain (the bird...

Re: Infestation of box tree moth in north Suffolk
Sharing responsibility with nature for the foliage near the railway has its positives and negatives. The loss of so many ‘trees’ is causing me to rethink a few things with the scenics on the railway. I might just describe the track work as open plan and gradually replace the more important trees wit...

Infestation of box tree moth in north Suffolk
Hi all, many months back I stopped buying box plants/trees because of the spread of the box tree moth in the uk. Was in the garden today doing some spray painting and noticed the box trees have been mauled by the box tree moth and will all have to be destroyed. This has decimated about 3/4 of my dec...

Travelling goods crane from Porterhouse Models
Looking round traders at Peterborough I found this beauty on Porterhouse Models stall. Arrived with me a short while later well packed for postage. Re: Scratchbuilt live steam Garratts
I couldn't scratchbuild a coal wagon to any acceptable condition which leaves me almost without words after looking at this. I'm drawn to ask, 'how difficult is it to put a roof on a cab so brilliantly detailed as that?'

The shortest station/halt on The Crowfoot Light Railway. This is a request stop only for passenger trains and as few know about it it is also the most peaceful.

Re: Andel wagons
Has your purple diesel generated as much controversy as the Severn Valley's "West Country"??! There is a bit of a story related to the purple colour of the diesel. I ordered it a few years ago at the W+LLR steam weekend from GRS but the guy setting them up with radio control insisted I pa...

Re: Andel wagons
Better than just 'good' I'd say Andy. The strapping and detailing really stand out and set them apart. What a shame they are no longer available. The strapping was painted and dry brushed before applying it to the painted wagon bodies, and it was this possibility that led me to the Andel version of...

Re: Andel wagons
NEARLY DONE. I’ve still got to finish off weathering dirt and a little rust together with some bespoke decals and a final matt varnishing. This is probably the condition these wagons will be in for some time to come so I thought it would be best to show them and thank all for help. F9E1E028-26CE-41F...

Re: Andel wagons
Thanks Gerald and Andy for your help but I’ve found the instructions that were safely stowed with the wrong kit. I have a couple of spares so if anyone wants one, let me know. The information was very useful though I have found some small parts are missing but they should be simple to scratch build....

Re: Andel wagons
Hi Andy, It probably won't be until the weekend, but I'll take some photos of mine - I scratch built the bodies from ply, but the bogies and strapping are Andel, so that should help, I hope? Andy, I think your offer of photos to help with the bogies and strapping will be a massive help but don’t ge...

Andel wagons
Hi, I have been working through my box of kits that need to be bought into use and I’ve got to 3 of what I think are Andel Models WD class D bogie wagons. I’ve layed apart the bits but only get so far when trying to work out where each part goes. Most of the larger parts are fairly obvious but i alw...

Eye watering detail and presentation.
I need to see this level of creation as ‘out of my league.’ Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to get off the starting blocks with my own modelling.
