Re: 2mm green granite chippings supplier

https://resinbondedaggregates.com/product/daltex-green-granite-2mm (It does come in various particle sizes ). It's dead cheap relatively speaking ( Just over £10 for a 25Kg bag) but the drawback is their delivery charge which is about 50 quid I think! Thanks for the info. I agree that the problem w...

2mm green granite chippings supplier

Hi, can't remember if I've asked before but I recollect reading someone found a supplier, I think in Derbyshire, that supplied 2mm granite chippings which could be used as track ballast which would look similar to that presently used on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. Any Ideas?

Thanks

Re: Railway Modeller - Brockhampton & Umbridge

I haven't bought Railway Modeller more than occasionally since the 70s. I still have some selected articles that interested me. I always had a hankering for a small, possibly modular, 009 layout. As a result of this thread I've bought a copy of the August RM and enjoyed Peter's article and agree th...

Re: Quarterly Garden Railway Gallery, Sept 2019 - Enter here

Thats a lovely red Acer in the background, but what is the tree with a distinct trunk, across the track from the loco shed? That is one of 4 dwarf conifers we put in about 9 years ago. they were about 6" tall. One of the group has died but every now and then I trim off the small branches of th...

Re: Applying custom lettering?

Any suggestions appreciated. In the past I've used Crafty Computer paper decal paper. There is a Waterslide paper and a Dry Rub paper though the latter requires a bit of a learning curve to get it right. Both types are ok with an inkjet printer but there is the usual restriction about white backgro...

 Hi Dwayne,
it sounds like you need some 'me' time and what better time to get some garden railroading planned. I'm on wife No 3 who is very supportive of my garden railway but that's another story.

Nice pic Andy. We don't hear nearly enough about your railway these days. I was thinking exactly that when I saw the picture and remember the inspiration Andy's gave me in the early days of my interest in this diverse hobby of ours. Andrew Hi Andrew, more nice comments - thank you. Last year wasn't...

Great idea Andy, love the name too. Thanks for your kind comments. The tree overhanging is a deciduous conifer Sequoia which we bought when it was on offer in a garden centre. We didn't research how large it was likely to grow till we'd planted it and got to like it. The grass is a bit of cheat as ...

Sequoia Falls halt on the Crowfoot Light Railway.
This small halt is for the use of tourists and anglers and at the time of the photograph had only rail access.

Re: Fork Lift trucks

Bruder do a fork lift. Robust construction and looks good. They also do a couple of drivers available separately. They are 1:16 scale but as the ptototypes are quite small this isn't a problem. Reasonably priced as well. You can also find them in your local toy shop or on a number of uk based retail...

Re: Ready to run, and ready painted?

Hi, as far as rtr painted figures for 16mm scale I suggest Bachmann Scenecraft. https://www.bachmann.co.uk/product-category/scenecraft/16mm-figures/ Otherwise have a look at the 1:22.5 scale figures in the Preiser range. These are a bit pricey and some of the range is difficult to find in UK retaile...

Side cutters - which to buy?

Hi, many moons ago I bought a pair of those rail cutting side cutters for OO and OO9 track. The positive thing about them for me was that the cutting surface was on the very edge of the jaws. I didn't heed the instructions and I used them for cutting other than OO rail which resulted in the cutting ...
