Re: Baseboard Construction
I use fibre cement sheeting, I have found that I have to use the external type as the type for use under eaves does not really stand up that well to being wet. Its OK while in place but handling it wet takes a lot of care. I overcame that by painting it with a cheap exterior weatherproof paint. I fi...

Re: Baffling instructions
Looks like a generic safety warning to satisfy regulations. A bit of proof reading would not go astray, Maybe I look at the world differently but all that made sense to me.  Could be the years evaluating technical manuals that did it. But I do agree with keeping away from children. :D...

Re: Big Maple & Little Oak RR
How long does it take for the snow to melt and where does all the water go? Does it just soak into the ground? Looking forward to seeing the progress you are making. I'm not having much luck with making progress with my re alignment. https://ringbalin-light-railway.blogspot.com/2024/03/3-stage-6-02-...

Re: How's this for a near miss
I can't imagine the trauma the train drivers go through every time this happens too. :dontknow: The consequences for the driver's of trains that strike vehicles/people can be life changing, even if the driver survives without injury. And clearing up the remains is very traumatic. I have a friend wh...

Re: Trucks
Can confirm that printed ones with metal wheels give enough weight down low, eliminated a derail problem I had. Yeah I really liked the heavy trucks, sounds like the printed units with metal wheels sets will work just fine, thanks for the heads up. I also glued steel washers to the back of plastic ...

Re: Trucks
Thanks for all the comments and help, much appreciated. As far as printing them to make a mold, I was thinking for a low temp metal cast, I like the weight of the ones I used to get from NENG. BUT I'll try them first with metal wheel sets, might be perfect and less work. Again, thanks everyone I'll...

Re: Simplex Yard Shunter
As promised pictures of the motor, there is no radiator so presumably it is an air cooled diesel. In mid picture is the decompression lever and down the bottom the crank handle slot. Planet Engine Front.jpg The switch in lower part of picture is used once the engine is starting to fire. Planet Engin...

Re: Building an 0-4-0 outside frame tank loco
Looking good so far, makes my current build look like a pile of garbage..... (I mean, it is but....) Don't be so hard on yourself; my early build were rubbish but I learned by my mistakes (there were heaps of them) and tried not to repeat them. Nobody is a master modeller straight up it takes time....

Re: LGB rail attachment
If I was faced with that problem I would bite the bullet and replace the section with a new piece of rail. The issue I see is that there is a straight piece in the middle of a curve that has to be bent to fit the curve. If you put a straight edge down the middle of the track at the end of the curve ...

Re: Simplex Yard Shunter
That's interesting. Has it been fitted with a smaller engine and moved the radiator to under the bonnet? Rik It is powered by a small diesel engine which I think is air cooled, I've never noticed a radiator. I'll check that out next Monday. This is an old photo of it before restoration Planet.jpg

This is a 3D printed one I have been looking at. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4844519 and one in On30 https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4866417/files Along with these I am thinking of making a scene for my extension in the shed of a small ore train running to a coal loader using an existing tun...

Some pictures of one made by F C Hibberd in 1959 that's in Bundaberg as a loco shunter that may help with painting ideas.

Not the same can, because I don't feel like getting it from the barn, but same paint inside. 00CBD0A9-1A9A-44DE-8E8A-5ED9B2CCB904.jpeg I'm going to weather the boiler to give it a slightly rusty look, and I'm thinking about distressing the wood cladding, does anyone have any ideas on how I could do...
