Re: Low cost couplers
I think that the orginal concept was from David Pinniger and if they are in wide use then this topic is a waste but if there is any interest here they are. I use this design as a permanent coupler between my 2 Motor Mules. The ones in the pictures need cleaning up and rounded of not to mention pain...

Re: 7/8th scale
how tall are 7/8ths scale figures /people . I assume there 5 inchs ish tall Well assuming the prototype is 6ft tall 7/8 of an inch to the foot gives you 7 x 6 = 42 eighths of an inch so 42/8 = 5 and a quarter inches. The problem however is not just height, but proportion. If one looks at some of th...

Re: Charging Lipos in models
Hi Rob, From what I know of radio control aircraft, charging lipos in models is generally not advisable unless you have a clear view of the battery and it is easily accessible if you need to remove it in a hurry. Lipos need to be treated with care and if a charging goes wrong it can quickly reduce...

Get a dog :P Who will (known from personal experience) happily foul on almost anything and just scratch up or dig up the line. Itinerant cats can be a real pain but the problem can be cured. I actually saw our dopey cat derail a train when challenging it's right of way. She has never been back on t...

Re: Coupling Advice please
I Hi Roy thats really helpful thanks. Which magnetic couplers do you use? I make my own. use 5mm diameter 3mm thick circular R/E magnets, a piece of brass tube and a thin sheet of brass for one end. Thus once soldered up I have an open ended cup that holds the magnet securely. A single length of br...

Re: Coupling Advice please
I have a lot of stock and from the beginning have used accucraft chopper couplings. They look prototypical, work well and I am very happy with them. I have now ordered a set of binnie glyn valley granite wagons. It doesn't look as if the choppers would be appropriate or would fit. I don't have the ...

What would be useful is some means of accessing this archive - can it be transferred to a third party website and retained somehow? Rik That would not be a problem on the operational front and indeed with a dedicated hard drive or raid array, a web server and fixed IP addresses it is quite easy to ...
