Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Having completed my last loco kit (shown above) I am waiting for inspiration to strike for the next project. I doubt it will take long but in the meantime I have been rearranging my stock storage and an idea came to mind. Firstly, I went through a charging programme of my entire battery powered loco...

That has changed the character so much and will make a nice railbus model when complete.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I don't envy your timescale Phil. Sometimes I can work quickly when everything falls into place, however, waiting for paint to dry can upset even the best laid plans.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your response. Rik.... I have run it inside through the points and a slight incline but only a few yards outside due to the general devastation which has put weeds and debris on the track. However, I think enough to show how well it runs.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
The loco is fitted with another receiver from Phil P (R.C. Trains) and powered by eight AAA low self discharge batteries, all housed in the boiler. Access to them is made simple by removing two screws underneath the smokebox which enables it and the boiler to be withdrawn from the chassis. The kit i...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Thanks guys, it's good to be back. As previously mentioned, painting, lining and naming was done to individual sections of the loco which makes a far better job. Each unit then bolts to the next making access for maintenance far easier too. For this loco I used 'Trimline', which is self adhesive vin...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I have been active on the Forum recently although not on this thread. Hopefully the 'Bot' which was attacking so many of the posts by hyper inflating visitor numbers has now got fed up and gone away somewhere. So time to get back to business. My last post on this thread was dated 4th March, and in t...

Re: Roundhouse Silver Lady
Just so people know, the guidelines for selling on the forum have been updated to include, photos, price and a rough location. This is the information people need to make an informed decision. Equally important is for the vendor to finalise the offer with a 'sold' notice. We have no way of knowing ...

Excellent work Andrew, it's a skill which deserves to be preserved. Few can match the wonderful artwork associated with the fairgrounds but Joby is a master craftsman and is passing on his experience. I hope the course was well attended.

The seat is very nicely done and will look perfect inside the carriage. With such fine detail it is important to make every one match.

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco
I think it looks great and you have made an exceptional job of it. I'm still not a fan of sound effects, but this one doesn't annoy me, perhaps it might if exposed to it for longer?
So pleased the coupling chains turned out OK, it's only because I remembered Jerry's experiments with his own prints.

Re: Varnished finish
Another suggestion Zac.... instead of a clear varnish, a French Polish applied with a brush can give a nice surface finish with additional depth of colour.

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
Thanks for the reassurance Trevor, comforting to know.
The sound of the wind, and experiencing the force of the wind here not far away from you, had me worried.
At our next meeting I will run my trains there without hesitation, but slowly!

Re: Varnished finish
Does anyone have any tips for adhereing paneling so that a varnished finish works? My tried and tested method is to stain or paint the body shell and the panelling first, then varnish and finally attach the panelling using 'canopy glue'. It will stick well, dry quickly and any excess can be removed...
