Re: Quarry Hunslet
That does look incredibly sharp with lots of detail. Quarry Hunslets are a guaranteed winner.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Glad you enjoyed that interlude, it just adds to the fun. Rik.... The number doesn't include my Emetts, although they too are battery powered by trailing wagons as there is no space for packs on board. Andrew... I'm working towards 38 so perhaps I'll put out a clue for you to try again later? Phil.....

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I was going to say 32 Rik This was not intended to be a trick question, but Rik's answer has made me think about the wording more carefully. The question referred to battery powered locos, of which there are 32 with built-in battery packs, however, two others need an external supply (trailing van w...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Every time I see some pics from Peter my jaw drops and I start wondering why I even bother trying to model anything. I'll never get anywhere near that standard. Fantastic work. That is so kind Greg, but don't underestimate your modelling skills. I have long been impressed with your work and appreci...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I think you mean "Airfix" Peter. They're unfortunately no longer produced, but I managed to track down a kit and 'converted' it into a horizontal steam engine for my sawmill. IMG_7598.JPG https://riksrailway.blogspot.com/2018/06/how-i-detailed-interior-of-my-sawmill.html?m=1 Rik PS Your s...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I find the glimpse of the beam engines! Behind the hearse-coach, intriguing.. :geek Phil.P Phil, the exhibition layout (B.U.R.P.S.) which travelled extensively during the 1980's and 90's was built to represent a heritage railway restoration/museum collection to add interest, therefore gave an oppor...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Having completed my last loco kit (shown above) I am waiting for inspiration to strike for the next project. I doubt it will take long but in the meantime I have been rearranging my stock storage and an idea came to mind. Firstly, I went through a charging programme of my entire battery powered loco...

That has changed the character so much and will make a nice railbus model when complete.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I don't envy your timescale Phil. Sometimes I can work quickly when everything falls into place, however, waiting for paint to dry can upset even the best laid plans.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Thanks guys, I really appreciate your response. Rik.... I have run it inside through the points and a slight incline but only a few yards outside due to the general devastation which has put weeds and debris on the track. However, I think enough to show how well it runs.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
The loco is fitted with another receiver from Phil P (R.C. Trains) and powered by eight AAA low self discharge batteries, all housed in the boiler. Access to them is made simple by removing two screws underneath the smokebox which enables it and the boiler to be withdrawn from the chassis. The kit i...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Thanks guys, it's good to be back. As previously mentioned, painting, lining and naming was done to individual sections of the loco which makes a far better job. Each unit then bolts to the next making access for maintenance far easier too. For this loco I used 'Trimline', which is self adhesive vin...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
I have been active on the Forum recently although not on this thread. Hopefully the 'Bot' which was attacking so many of the posts by hyper inflating visitor numbers has now got fed up and gone away somewhere. So time to get back to business. My last post on this thread was dated 4th March, and in t...

Re: Roundhouse Silver Lady
Just so people know, the guidelines for selling on the forum have been updated to include, photos, price and a rough location. This is the information people need to make an informed decision. Equally important is for the vendor to finalise the offer with a 'sold' notice. We have no way of knowing ...

Excellent work Andrew, it's a skill which deserves to be preserved. Few can match the wonderful artwork associated with the fairgrounds but Joby is a master craftsman and is passing on his experience. I hope the course was well attended.
