A wonderful, dry and warm day it turned out to be. Thank you Phil for the company and Angelo for the delicious cakes.

Yes George, a Black Country Boy, surrounded by beautiful factories, chimneys, canals and industrial railways. Now all I have are trees, fields and sheep!

Well Chris, I had to look David Shepherd up. A similar vein to some of Terence Cuneo's paintings I thought. Thank you. Grant. My favourite painting by Cuneo is the 'Running Sheds of the Great Caerphilly and Vole-tail Central Railway' . A large sized, signed print hangs in front of me now as constan...

Re: Halfords Rattle Can Paint problems
That's a real shame as I select colours at random just from the cap colour, so if they have discontinued that I have no way of knowing.
I also use Hycote, which is a good quality paint but in limited range of colours.
Perhaps if you search the 'net it could give you the details for your colour?

54 years ago, today.
It was 54 years ago, today, when I went to my first wedding. I was 21 and Diane 16..... (Don't jump to conclusions!) By that I don't mean I have been married more than once, rather that I had never previously attended a wedding at all. I have no siblings and only two cousins, one too young at the ti...

Another masterpiece Giles, wonderful slow running and great detailing, especially the turning head.
Tchaikovsky 1812 overture is a personal favourite, but perhaps a little overdramatic for the action?

An excellent picture of your beautiful home Peter. There will be many envious members drooling over your good fortune of having your own railway station. The museum collection is well worth sharing.

I like to think it was developed for garden railway use and adopted by the building industry.Old Man Aaron wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 2:49 pm Interesting just to see it in use outside of garden railways.

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Anyone who has read through the earlier pages of my ramblings might recall my fairly regular reference to the use of SBR, a bonding agent, which I used to stick crushed stone and crushed oyster shell as ballast and ground cover. Well, I have discovered another advocate for its use in making things s...

They look great Rod.... what a wonderful idea. The sacks are good and the hinges and catch well worth the effort. I can easily imagine that on a small estate railway. Nicely finished too!
