Hasn't the weather been kind to us down here in West Wales? None of that white stuff....not even any rain for a couple of weeks now..ideal weather for getting outdoor work done! Here are the results of several days labour... ./myff/1538607/IMG_0968.JPG This shows the levelling of the ground prepared...

Just stunning!! Expertly made and beautifully finished..... I like the weathering showing water runs below the windows from the cills. But there's more.... The tiny hinges on the swinging windows, cast grilles set into the bricks, rust marks on the hoist pivots and wear to the bottom edge of the doo...

That shows an understanding of how real crates are made.... but how did you make yours?
The finish looks convincing and the lettering just right!
Also, the cases are brilliant. Let us into your secret.

Another wonderful addition to your magnificent layout.... I am retired but still don't have the spare time to produce models as rapidly as you! How do you manage it?

Building the body now..... Difficult to gauge the scale of the finished loco just from one photograph, particularly as there is no driver on board to give a sense of size. However, I think it looks about right and without drawings etc, who knows?

What is that big yellow ball-shaped thing in the sky? While it's there we got the digger out to play and began levelling the ground behind the shed. It all looks very messy at the moment but, the plan is coming together at last! I now have to put stakes in the ground and shuttering behind to hold ba...

My local family run timber merchants do treated timbers in a range of sizes. My favorite is 1" thick and 6" wide and comes in lengths up to about 6m. I have used 'miles' of this stuff and found it last for years. The DIY stores only stock timber for 'general' use but garden centres or 'out...

Your ground conditions sound very similar to mine... I am on a gentle slope with water draining from the top of the field to the lowest point, which is where I propose to build my railway. My idea is to level the ground as much as possible so that the back of the loop is at ground level while the fr...

I was unsure about the chain drive being on one or both sides. As I have no pictures of the other side I thought best to do both so that whichever side is visible it still shows the drive system.
The chassis still runs smoothly so I think it will stay put now!

Further progress on the chassis including the second chain drive, completion of the suspension system and a base coat of grey primer which makes everything stand out more clearly. ./myff/1512389/IMG_0909.JPG ./myff/1512390/IMG_0910.JPG ./myff/1512391/IMG_0911.JPG ./myff/1512392/IMG_0912.JPG

With my shed/garden railway taking up most of my time recently I have only just begun to build MEGAERA. Starting point is a IP chassis fitted with wheelset with extra long axles. These extend through a plasticard sideframe . ./myff/1509420/IMG_0900.JPG On the outer of the sideframes are plasticard '...

Although it is cold here in the West, it has at least been dry for some days now. Also, despite a short stay in hospital, I have been able to move forward with the interior of the shed and complete the installation of the layout as well as adding some homely features! ./myff/1509396/IMG_0903.JPG The...

Absolutely SUPERB!!! I would not have thought such detailing possible with smoke, steam and oil trying their best to mess it all up... Thanks for the link CJ, but GN15 is not for me!
I have so much stuff now in 16mm and Emett items too I can't get involved in another gauge. Everything I make will be 32mm gauge unless for someone else.
