I made some name plates which are just 1.5mm thick at max and a grill at 0.5mm. Both have fine detail which would not be possible to do it any other way.
Those are VERY impressive! The grill and Hunslet lettering are just fantastic...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?

Hmmm... Could make for a nice version of this, converted from RH&DR co-creator Captain Howey's own Rolls, which he apparently used to drive along the line at 60mph... RHDR Rolls Royce.jpg Lovely railcar by the way Peter, both original and believable - I'd love to see a film of it running when you've...

Re: O Gauge track for 16mm?

I'd be a little careful, light wagons are probably a good idea with very tight curves - I once stripped the gears of a battery loco by asking it to pull a heavy wagon round a Faller curve... Lots of fun to be had though - the later incarnations of John Rogers' Pigsty Hill Light Railway are a good ex...

Re: O Gauge track for 16mm?

Hello! I don't think you'll have any trouble in terms of radius as long as, as you say, you keep it simple - have a look at this, 15" radius Faller e Train track, I think: https://youtu.be/lRFdXeEost8 I believe others have used tinplate track - how successfully probably depends on wheel profiles, bu...

Re: I'm clearly not trying hard enough to achieve realism ....

Finally got round to watching this, and it is indeed very impressive - I'd argue that it might be more detailed than your line Rik, but it's less realistic, you can't beat the great outdoors... I like a railway that can get rained on...

Re: Wanted Falller items!

Welcome! It's possible I can help with some or all of your Faller wish-list - I'll take a look at the weekend and drop you a PM once I've had a look at what I've got. I'm quite a fan of the old Faller range and collected a fair bit of it over the years, some of which I've adapted, and some of which ...

Re: Shuntomatic System 3000 - 2022 edition

Another day, another lunchtime, and another chance to run some pretend trains. Much like the others, Day Six dawned bright and clear, next door's yappy and train-hating dog was nowhere in sight, and the track was in tip-top condition, so zero chance of a derailment... The dice decreed four wagonload...

Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

I really like this, great garden railway-ing! The track seems to work really well laid straight onto the patio, and the pond wharf is going to look great - I think I need a pond... Love the little red loco too.

Looking forward to the next update!

All the best,

Andrew.

Re: Buster Keaton - Our Hospitality - replica Rocket

Ah yes, but they screwed up on that latest version of Murder On The Orient Express. Both real and dummy locos were used, but they put the smoke deflectors on the dummy upside down. Continuity? We'll have none of that here...! Is that the version with Kenneth Branagh? I'm sure I spotted the gauge ch...

Re: Buster Keaton - Our Hospitality - replica Rocket

Thanks Rik, never saw that one before. Emett would have been proud! How film-making has declined since that time. It is very Emett-esque, isn't it, fantastic! If we're judging the quality of film-making by the standard of replica locos though, the latest Mission Impossible must be in with a shout, ...

Re: Shunt-O-Matic System 3000/1 - 2022 edition

Have a lie down in a darkened room and sip some camomile tea...😂 It's too much time in darkened rooms that's the problem, I need to get outside! That not being an option, this lunchtime I ran some more virtual trains instead... Day Four turned out to be rather quieter than previous ones. The FR clo...

Re: Shunt-O-Matic System 3000/1 - 2022 edition

Not too much scope in my back garden to use System 3000 sadly (limited rolling stock and no actual destinations served) but perhaps the developers might deliver a simplified add-on — System 3000/1, Determining the most appropriate serviceable locomotive . I’ll be wanting to link it to my website, s...

Re: Shuntomatic System 3000 - 2022 edition

the first two virtual runs have necessitated the use of the two wagons I've not built yet,....- I'd better crack on with those! No time for wagon building... too busy playing virtual trains!  There may be some truth in that - although, I did buy myself a beautiful new jigsaw at the weeke...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Glad you like the rust effect. Yes, it's iron filings, applied while the paint was wet then "activated" with copper sulphate solution, which appears to create a far more orange rust than using vinegar. I think I could probably vary the colour by changing the strength of the solution - some experimen...
