I was a bit floored to see your queue. :salute:
Imagine how it felt writing it!

AND, the whole list constitutes fewer wagons than your mighty train of cane wagons!

Re: First Ever Garden Railway

Sounds like a plan!

You can always start simple, with a plank braced with 2x1, and then create something more elaborate later, when you've got things up and running...

Cheers,

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

I'd love to know the secret. It's not a secret, just real wood (a 0.5mm veneer over the MDF kit in this case) and fine sandpaper! Oh, and then a good old slosh of grot-coloured washes over the top. I've tried for a similar effect on a plastic bodied wagon, painting a "worn wood" colour undercoat an...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

However, I’m afraid I can’t agree that “the Bulleid ‘Spam Can’ would look rather nice in ‘large logo’ blue livery” — not to mention, in the hopelessly naff “Network South East, with the swooping stripes at each end” scheme. I remember being extremely disappointed when the then fairly new and sensib...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

I think you are being too hard on yourself. Not really, don't worry, I'm pretty pleased with it. If it is a little out here and there, that's fine - any inaccuracies are a small price to pay for the speed and convenience of using the Phil Sharples kit as a starting point. Plus, there are very few p...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

You're getting really good at this Andrew. The wear and tear to the planking is very nice, and subtle weathering is particularly good. Thank you! I was thinking that, when - in a few builds time - I get round to my half-century of FR/WHR wagons, I ought to make something I can number "50" and leave...

Hi all, In what was record time for me, the "oyster wagon" is now complete: Oyster wagon finished A.jpg Oyster wagon finished B.jpg Oyster wagon finished C.jpg I couldn't resist trying to recreate the photo which inspired it ( http://217.34.233.120:8086/index.php?a=ViewItem&key=SXsiTiI6MSwiUCI6eyJ2Y...

Re: Semi-scale BR: The Modernisation Plan

Thanks very much! I’m plotting what else can be painted blue… The Bulleid "Spam Can" - would look rather nice in "large logo" blue livery... Or the earlier variant of Network South East, with the swooping stripes at each end??? The shunter looks great - I look forward to seeing it and the 33 in act...

Re: Line Side Hut - Flat wagon with tool box load

Wow, I see Line Side Hut have ceased trading? So, do I actually build this? Or, Keep it for a couple of years, then list it as *RARE*, on that well-known auction site? Wow, that happened suddenly! I'm sure it's the right decision for them, and I wish them all the best, but on a selfish level I'm wis...

Re: First Ever Garden Railway

Hello again! Here's the sort of thing I (and maybe others) had in mind, where a low wall buys you enough flat space in front of it to get a loop in - although that's going to need to be about 6 feet, to get a pretty minimum (2'6" radius) loop, plus some clearance, and you will lose lawn... Cunning p...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Do you have a "to-do" list of wagonry, or are you just going and going until you've a complete WHR/FR roster in 16mm? I don't always comment when I pop back in for a look, but this is one of my favourite threads here. Always an inspiration. :salute: Thanks Aaron, I really appreciate it! I'm l...

Re: Scratchbuilt live steam Garratts

That's a truly amazing model.

But... Having spent hours and hours making such a beautiful thing, has he honestly left it precariously balanced on a couple of lengths of pipe in what appears to be a goods yard?!!
