Re: New Beginning for 2022
Brilliant stuff, thanks for the video! I agree with Rik, it must be great to watch sit back and watch the trains roll by. I particularly like the shot about 5 minutes in, where two trains arrive in the yard from different routes and run parallel for a while. I'm quite taken with that three car EMU a...

Re: Restored Baldwin on the WHR
Was there on the Saturday launch, 590/794 looks very smart in the red/brown colour! Space was unfortunately at a premium for the runs, so we ended up in van 10's guards compartment for the trip. I'm jealous, just watched the "Moving Pictures" footage of the inaugural runs. 590 really does look sple...
Re: NGG16
it's getting bigger And it WILL be big! Love how it's sitting on what appears to be a book about Quarry Hunslets! I really enjoy the stage of a project where you start putting the bits together and it begins to occupy what was previously empty space, giving a real sense that you're creating somethi...

Re: North East Victoria Railway
Very nice - a great variety of trains, and very different to the average British line. I really like the brake van with the wasp striped duckets - a former passenger brake, I guess? Bad luck re the lack of steam over the North York Moors - I hope we have a rainier summer than last year, for the sake...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Hi all, This weekend I took advantage of the good weather and went for another stroll in the direction of the Carriage and Wagon Works, with the intention of seeing if I could catch a glimpse of the latest progress on the Mystery Carriage. The shed doors were closed, and the carriage was nowhere in ...

Re: First Ever Garden Railway
Hello! You might want to consider a Regner loco - easy to operate, relatively cheap, reliable, and capable of VERY slow running, on account of being geared. I've had my "Konrad" for over 15 years, and use it more often than any other loco. I don't think they make the "Konrad" at the moment, but the ...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Any 'Little John' owners will be aware of one problem, the charge socket inside the cab is a real pain in the @rs3 to access and I missed an opportunity to re-site it during the build. Has your charger got an "L" shaped plug? That does the trick for mine, reducing the issue to merely awkward! I als...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
That looks great! It really looks the part with that industrial backdrop, putting me in mind of childhood glimpses of grotty diesels shunting on the Silvertown Tramway in East London, glimpsed from the top of a 101 bus. I rather like my RH "Little John", which remains largely unmodified, but it has ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Morning all! You may recall that, for the last couple of years there have been mysterious goings on in the (WH)WHR carriage shed - but also that every time I visit either the doors are tightly closed or I get chased away, so I've only got occasional glimpses of what's happening, which so far suggest...

Re: The Great Garden Railway Inspection Reports
Flying Scotsman eh?? You're really raising the bar! Nice to see the inspector out and about again - and that signalling railway looks most intriguing. I do love the look of your line - if we ever have a Forum "most attractive goods shed" competition, I know where my money's going... Cheers, Andrew.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Good morning! Finally! Three years after I started building it, back in the first lockdown, I've finished my model of Ffestiniog Railway Van 4! Looking back over this thread, it appears that the reason it's taken quite so long is that my propensity to be distracted has reached new levels - since I s...

Thanks for the report,

Re: Travelling goods crane from Porterhouse Models
It's lovely, isn't it?!
The Ffestiniog had one (not that it was ever used), so I could just about justify one for my line, although I think I'll be after the 4 and 6 wheel coal wagons first...
