Given that I had to turn the chassis round to get the body to fit, there's probably an "Edam/Made backwards" joke in there somewhere, but I don't think I'll go looking for it...

Re: (WH)WHR Buildings
Very nice! Absolutely screams Welsh Highland. Thanks Stuart, I'm glad you like it! I must confess, I am pleased with it - it does look "right" when a WHR train pulls into the platform... My wife's got into ceramics, to the extent that there's now a kiln in our kitchen, so I'm thinking that at some ...

Re: Kerr Stuart diesel
Morning all! Here's the latest progress on the diesel, with some filling, sanding, and priming done, and some more to come. I think I've got away with my "cut and shut" operation to shorten the body... KS 12.jpg KS 13.jpg I rather like the yellow primer livery! Once it's all tidied up I think I'll p...

Re: How to add rust finish?
Just catching up here... I still feel like I've got a lot to learn re adding rust in this way, I'm not 100% happy with the results yet. I'd suggest getting the finest iron filings possible, and experimenting a bit - copper suplhate seems to produce lots of very orange rust pretty quickly, wheras spr...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
I just thought you were trying to emulate the pecuniary precariousness of the line's namesake..... Rik I'm not sure the real thing was open long enough to fall too far into disrepair - I reckon my track's more overgrown than any pictures I've seen of the old WHR! But, talking of the real WHR... Ove...

Re: Commercial Printing
No idea about printing, I'm afraid, but I'm VERY impressed with your/the GCR's attention to detail! Mostly for station areas I guess, if a lot of the main line uses concrete sleepers? Perhaps you could post a photo when you've got some in place? All the best, Andrew PS I wonder if there'd be a marke...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Nice pictures as usual, Andrew. this whole section of line could do with some work! Some is largely cosmetic(ballasting the relayed bit, mending the fencing etc), Mmmm... I imagine that if Mr Spectre ever manages to stagger his way back norf' from the Land of Oz, he might have a few words to say ab...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway
Hi all, This weekend was the first in ages where I've had some time to spend in the garden. So I did. Saturday was dedicated to repairing the lift-out section over the back gate. It's never been perfect, but it's got worse over time, to the point where I was literally having to hold the thing in pla...

Re: Kerr Stuart diesel
Hi all! Been on holiday (Mallorca, but the wrong side for the lovely trains and trams), so slowly catching up with GRF posts. I spent a little time yesterday fiddling about with a little gizmo to hold the on/off switch and charging socket in place on the KS diesel. Here's the finished thing, which I...

That's a stunner!
Close observation and finely honed techniques have REALLY paid off, congratulations!

Re: Kerr Stuart diesel
With all these kits now using laser-cut acrylic: Is it worth giving the faces a very fine rubbing down before assembly? I am thinking it will 'key' the surface, for when you come to paint? Hi Phil, Yes, that's the plan -I think it's recommended it the kit instructions. I've resisted much rubbing do...
