Re: Dedicated to the over committed projects/under producers

Thanks Phil. Have been on the road for past 14 months ( for non Australian readers this is a right of passage for seniors), so nothing much happening at home, or for next 18 months of our projected journey. Youngest daughter is in charge of gardening, I make no enquiries. I am currently working on a...

Re: Making Ceramic Gas Burners.

Thanks Tony, very informative.
Not that any extrapolation would be appropriate, but to give an indication, could you advise the surface dimensions of the ceramic and an approximation of the total boiler volume
Thanks in advance.

Re: The Ringbalin "Cane Line"

I used mesh cable tray for the non scenic side of the layout
The sides of the tray help in derailments😁
The lighter framework is arguably less intrusive

I wonder how long the lubricator mechanism mounted on top of the cylinder lasted. The actuator looks a little lightweight 🙃

Here's the marked-out front plate. Who else uses their digital calipers for scribing lines?
Hi Dave,
Do you use 16 gauge on this type of project?
Do you paint internally with gal?
Thanks Tim

Re: Operating a new Roundhouse Lady Anne

I ordered one from DJB engineering. They make a "resonator" style whistle, with a scale(ish) brass whistle to mount on the front of the cab, and a resonating chamber hidden inside the cab. It also comes with a valve and a "banjo" fitting that goes on the steam turret in the cab....

Re: Roundhouse Katie Kit build

2 tricks to try on the return crank Use a saw to continue the slot onto the other side of the crank pin opening, this allows the crank to tighten down harder without distorting the shape of the crank pin hole and with less force from the nut/bolt. Substitute the Roundhouse nut and bolt with a stainl...

Re: Garden Railway Gallery - a POLL, please read.

Hi Ricky, thanks for the input. FYI, and anyone else who hasn't seen them, these are the rules as posted at the beginning of the Gallery: Someone obviously put a lot of thought into these rules, I think they are comprehensive and workable as long as everybody takes this ‘non- competition’ as a bit ...

That is indeed a lovely curved point... Andrew. Oh dear, now I am posting in reflected glory. Re: TVT - The Skylark That Couldn't

Hi Graeme,
The design has a fair amount of weight behind the fixed wheelbase . Did you weight up the front or rely on the springing of the trailing truck to balance it up.
