Thanks for the information, tom_tom_go. But with a 3 axle Lady Anne engine, is there any room left to mount the Slo Mo in between the frames? I'm interested in the Slo Mo for my small indoors 32mm switching/terminal layout. For slow speed running of rod type engines. Currently using a Regner Chalone...

SSP Slo Mo

Has anyone installed a Slo Mo in their engine? Was it difficult?
And did you like the performance change?

Thanks for any comments!

Whew! That blue is very vibrant! It does need some lining to set it off better, though… JMHO

Roundhouse Garratt

Saw the announcement for the Darjeeling Garratt - nice but expensive.

Does anyone know if it is fitted with a dual burner?
I would think a LOT of water has to be boiled to keep up with 2 sets of cylinders.

One oil consumption fix I've done on my Accucraft locos is taking a piece of K&S 9/16" brass tubing, cutting a 1/2" section off it, slitting that section lengthwise, then installing it down inside the lubricator just low enough to clear the top plug. You adjust it by turning the slit c...

You can ride behind 3.5" gauge engines on a hi line track. You ride side saddle with both legs hanging off one side. The problem is, finding one of these tracks here in the USA. Some of the original Live Steam Clubs back East, like Pioneer Valley, still have a high line. I don't recall ANY high...

As I've said before there is a reason why real Garratts have a short fat boiler. Looking at the drawings for K1, the first Garratt, the boiler scales out to 2 1/2" dia. by 8 1/4" long. That's big enough to fit two Roundhouse burners, so it would steam four cylinders easily with plenty of ...

Hmmm... I would have liked to use a standard factory boiler, rather that getting a custom boiler built. Roundhouse is the only one I know of that sells factory built boilers.
Does RH make a boiler bigger than the Lady Anne's?

Roundhouse Garratt

I'd like to put together a 0-4-0+0-4-0 Garratt from Roundhouse components; 2 sets of Katie running gear underneath a Lady Anne boiler.

My question is; will the Lady Anne boiler make enough steam to run 2 sets of Katie cylinders?

Looks like the original rod that hits has a tweak in it. Look at the bottom of the pic, the end of the rod is not parallel to the frame as in the one that works properly. A slight bend with some needlenose pliers would fix it up...

Thank you gentlemen for the info. It was that exact link I saw that got me inquiring. Beautiful scratchbuilt engine, didn't think it was a LocoBox issue. Didn't I read somewhere recently that LocoBox is coming back with their product line named Rail-Road? Would be interesting to see if they come bac...

Thanks for the info LnBmad. I have no intention of drilling holes into the pressure vessel. The holes would go into the non-pressurized firebox. I would assume to vent the unwanted liquid Butane spewing from the newly filled tank. The engine has an adjustable collar to cover the air holes in the bur...

I've read somewhere of a fix for this problem of drilling several air holes at the bottom of the boiler where the fire tube is located. I don't know if the holes were drilled up thru the bottom, or thru the side circumference. Makes sense, as engines with Horizontal boilers have open bottom smokebox...
