Visited the Setesdalsbanen in Norway yesterday - unfortunately as we were on a coach tour we had a tight schedule:

Re: Full size railway reference and picture thread
The air brakes weren't fully finished in time, the connectors at each end were ready but needed the end piping attached. I think also they were left off for photographic reasons!

Re: Restored Baldwin on the WHR
Was there on the Saturday launch, 590/794 looks very smart in the red/brown colour! Space was unfortunately at a premium for the runs, so we ended up in van 10's guards compartment for the trip.philipy wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 7:30 am Just came across this item on the Beeb:

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
See this page: https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=6380&start=420 The good thing about the LSH wagons is that you can add a fair amount of variation to them. I used the original wheels as supplied in the kit. The 2-plank wagons started off as his flats, they're great starting ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
I have actually made many slate wagons using this very method Andrew:
This is the latest - IP axle boxes are used on all of them, they will need added plastic strips to thicken the chassis or else the wheels won't fit!- Sun May 01, 2022 12:34 pm

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
They look great Andrew. I was thinking of doing a more scale NWNGR wooden wagon using a Line Side Hut 45mm slate wagon - they're a bit larger than the 32mm so it'll be a good starting point!

Here it is on-test yesterday:
Coincidentally, the B-wagon was also completely rebuilt. This is its first run as well!

Garratt no. 4
Hi all, After some years out of action: Morgan works no. 4 is now back in action IMG-20211007-WA0013.jpg The previous livery. IMG-20211007-WA0011.jpg Ex-works This was the first Garratt made here and originally started life with a PPS oscillator motor in the back bunker, driving the back only. It wa...

Looks great Andrew. Are you using the buffers in the kit? I replaced mine with smaller IP ones in the end.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Thanks Andrew, Matt Acton is to credit!
Russell ran again on our regular Sunday session - Simon Sparks captured it on the "long straight". Later on, after Beddgelert's run I took the opportunity to take a snap of the 3 NWNGR engines.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
Looking excellent Andrew! I'll have to do this van at some point, along with the two goods vans! We currently have two new locomotives to add to the NWNGR/WHR theme: IMG-20210903-WA0007.jpg First is of course Russell... This is actually our second Russell, the first was a Roundhouse mark 1 that was ...

Welsh Highland Railway "rainbow" trains
Hi all, Trying to get a grips with a typical 1930's interior colour. Supposedly, the WHR carriages were painted in a variety of colours using household paint. This included two summer carriages in blue and pink(!) What sort of shades would you expect? I always imagined the pink so be a subdued pale ...

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
And finally, something a bit more "modern WHR". IMG-20210712-WA0030_resize_14.jpg This enormous brake van was a Worsley brass "scratch-aid" kit, you get the side to make a basic 2D box and everything else is added to that. Features HGLW SAR bogies and scratch-built lamps + duckets.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
As promised
The two planked wagon is now finished, with some soil (inspired by Andrew's).
An FR private owners wagon, plated as Oakeley's. This is a cut-down Lineside Hut wagon with a scratch built "inside frame".

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock
The "Wagon in a Weekend" project might not quite have lived up to its billing, but nonetheless the WHR brake van is trundling towards the finish line remarkably quickly for one of my projects. Here's where it's at right now: WHR Van.jpg Just weathering, a roof and (maybe) a little interna...

Here's a (heavily doctored) photo of the sheet. Obviously it's missing a few transfers.
If you contact Tom, he'll have this saved somewhere. This is my second sheet from him.
