I notice that part of the pedigree of this railcar is ""Mary an AEC Railcar" which featured in the May 2002 edition of Garden Rail, pg 10-14, by Nick Dew I would like to see that article but unfortunately my electronic subscrition to Garden Rail only give back issues to 2006. Does any...

A query about Binnie skips

Hi all, I have just put together a couple of the excellent Binnie Engineering skip kits. It seems that I have the option of glueing the skip to the frame and making it static, or leaving it loose and prone to falling off if not loaded. Has anybody tried to adapt these so that they tipple properly, a...

Excusez-moi going a bit off topic but where did you get a tin of Anzac biccies from? My wife( a Kiwi) has just last week baked a batch of Anzacs for her kids at school for Remembrance Day. I'll nudge the bisuits back on topic then! I have 3 (long empty) tins which I am keeping as raw material in ca...

Thanks folks for all the kind words.
Not sure about it being a bit high - Buffers beams are about the same height as the Mamod's. Trying to get the wheels sorted on a Rapier at the moment. Should be able to check against that for height soon

My 1st 16mm scratchbuild - confessions of a complete planker

Not sure if this is the right section of the forum for a rolling stock build project but here it is anyway. Now I really should have put this lot up blow by blow over the last several weeks but it’s almost embarrassing how long it has taken! So here it is as one big post. Hope that doesn’t contraven...

Cambrian W & L axleguards query

I have recently bought some Cambrian W & L axleguards, together with some wheels and 2mm axles from the same source.. I am a bit confused about the bearings. Having recently “upgraded” from N gauge, I am used to pinpoint bearings but these things seem rather different! The bearings as supplied s...

Making a start on the Fredericktown Tramway (Mk1)

Well I am making a start even if I have not yet laid any track.   I have decide on a name, The Fredericktown tramway.   We hope to retire in a couple of years to Albany on  the south coast of  WestOz. When it was founded as the first settlement in the state in 1829 it was known as Fredericktown, hen...

Rob, …Have you checked Perth Hobby Centre, or Stanbridge's, to see what sort of deal they can do for a box? Graeme, thanks , good idea. Better give the local bloke a chance. Lots of Aussie retailers are whinging about everbody buying from overseas 'cos of the high $. I'll see if they can compete. I...

A weighty question

Hi. First post here, hope this is the right section! I am assessing the possibilities for starting a garden railway and suppose that getting some track would be a good start. Trouble is I am in Perth Western Australia, which is a bit isolated. Mail order from the UK is a possible route but with SM32...
