However with the announcement of the Mamod Thomas Telford plus other Garden Railway releases I hatched an alternative plan which actually started out with a Megabus overnight coach from Aberdeen to London on Friday at 19:15, returning home to Glasgow at 08:30 on Sunday after another Megabus overnig...

I know what you paid for it, but that's only because I worked the booking in desk and spotted it, but then decided I wanted the fun of building my own Mamod instead....though at one point I admit we had about 5 things under our booking in desk that TommyDodd or I had claimed as our own......LOL

I stayed the night before and the night after and only come from deepest Kent. It just made the day that much less stressful. I would definately do this again. Perhaps next year though i'll stay where you lot stayed that had the steam up in the carpark which looked like fun and lend a hand as well....

The absolute ideal would be to have it on a biannual rota, one year Stafford, the other Peterborough. Everyone then gets a fair bite of the cherry. Is the will there to do that? Who knows, but it certainly hasn't been recently, to the loss of everyone in the West, who seem to miss out on everything...

I think Phillipy has summed up the situation well. It's an age old problem in many (if not all) national organisations. I now the Hornby Railway Collectors Association suffer similar agonies! One factor which can also influence venue, and which is every bit as important as any other consideration w...

That's the real hub of the problem. However if the main garden railway associations were to get together (ducks to avoid flack) to arrange three major shared one day shows north, south and Mid country it might be a better opportunity for the majority of enthusiasts to visit a show and possibly by s...

As we say in New York City: Coffee, Regular! <3 Yes, please!  Oh, when I moved here I lamented about the lack of proper coffee.....so for Valentine's Day last year, TommyDodd got me a proper coffee maker.  MMMM and now I've gotten him into a cuppa coffee first thing in the morning. With the agreement of Tim and Rebecca, I'd like to keep Mr Isle here until the 2nd week of May. This is so that he can attend PTLR fest, the biggest steamup on the North West Area Group, and inspect the Pine Tree Light Railway (I'm expecting a very poor mark for train control for THAT event....!) H...

It's not too bad here, mostly wind. Tim's at work right now in the fens though, and he said it's blowing. We've not had any damage here (thankfully!) But I wouldn't want to be visiting my mom right now.... they have had what seems like weekly storms since the beginning of January. This last one dump...

I am of the opinion that this line is of a good enough standard for the continuation of passenger services. Phew, that must be a relief LR... Where's Victor off to next? It must be said there were sighs of relief all round the railway when this generally favourable report was produced....! Victor i...

One time I kept a caller on the phone with me for 20 minutes by chatting them in circles. It was funny until the guy said "Oh I give up!" and hung up on me!

I also used to get calls on my Skype US number and I would always tell them that they called England.....LOL

Fantastic! I really wanted a train running around the bottom of our cake, but as the wedding was in the US and Tim's stuff all in the UK, it wouldn't have worked out :(

My personal feelings are that I love the NRM.  It was one of the places Tim took me when we were dating and he was starting to show his love for trains to me. I was fascinated, and I would hate to see it close. Sure, the locos could go to preservation societies who might actually be able to put the ...

As Tim said, my Pappy was a watchman for the Pennsy. He passed away when I was only 2, but his ties to the railway lived on.... I had a favourite towel that had a little grey sleeping kitten on it that I got to use whenever I visited my grandparents (and then later my aunt and uncle). Little did I k...

I'm aiming to hold on! She's the first woman I've met who is amazingly tolerant of my railway obsession. Though she's caught hold of the technique I've developed and stopped me from buying about half a dozen since!  :( I know that song! Mine loved the whole garden railway world from the minute she ...

When Tim (TommyDodd) and I first got together, he already had half the garden railway, so I knew what I was getting into. I loved the railway from day one, though I admit I hadn't done much gardening (and still really don't due to time!). When Tim wanted to extend the railway into the top end of the...
