A row of terraced houses in polystyrene

I have wanted to add to my village for a long time. So when I came across a few large sheets of polystyrene at work I decided to give it a go. Mr F C kept poo pooing the idea and saying it is too flimsy and I would agree if used by itself. He suggested putting a covering of fibreglass resin over it ...

Was intrigued by the title of the thread and even more by following it! Mr F C tried bell ringing for a bit and loved it. Trouble was its a bit like Morris dancing, they want some commitment from you! I love the sound of the bells.

I am trying to source a single decker bus/coach particularly 50/60's era. Having no luck in finding it on eBay etc. Any thoughts on where I can get one?

That is the problem most of their audience seems to be 'of an age'!! In the folk festival circuit the audience is younger and they do a lot if festivals it they younger ones don't want to spend the money on CDs!

Mawkin cd preorder- proud mother!

Ok I confess I am being a proud mum, some of you I know are already fans of my sons folk band Mawkin. We have used some of their music on a couple of the MPLR films. So this is just to let you know that their new cd 'The Ties that Bind' is now available to preorder! Hopefully my link will work. This...

A day in the life if the MPLR -MPLR24

We made this film in 2011 when we decided we wanted to use every bit of rolling stock and locos we had! It was great fun doing it and we hope you enjoy it! I am having to use this link method but it seems to work!

So much to enjoy. I hope you make some more videos! There are lots on YouTube on the MPLR channel! Some are a bit silly but I do like a storyline and not just watching trains going round! There's a couple on the MPLR website on the films page. I just choose once a month the latest film and a 'golde...

[quote="steampig:108339" Would that be the SV? If not, you could take an impression of the SV fitting thread in plasticene or similar, measure up and see if it matches a standard thread. That might be enough to finger what you need. Don't drop plasticene in the boiler, though ...[/quote] Y...

Well chaps you have been very enlightening so far! Just got a telling off from Mr F C for describing the pipe wrongly. You are indeed correct and it goes from the emits valve by the left side doorway to what is indeed a check/clack valve across the other side of the footplate and into the boiler. Th...

Bless you Tony! That's really helpful ,thank you. I was curious to see the 'date' if that's what it is on the boiler because the plans are much earlier and also the person I purchased it from also confirmed that it would have been pre '94? Would the maker stamp a date on the boiler? We haven't got a...

There's a thought Brian! Yes we are coming and we were thinking it would be the best place to find what we are looking for! I'm hoping that someone here might have an idea! If we knew who made the boiler at least we may have some chance! We have tried an old pressure relief valve I believe to be fro...

./myff/1850820/image.jpg Just noticed that the gas filler is broken too! The little nipple has snapped off! also seem to have a 'spare' pipe underneath which appears to have cut off, Mr F C not worried about this thinks it's a left over from the meths/gas conversion! It was obviously well use...

Ok, I've forgotten how nice it is to share a problem! Yes adding more photos and have now investigated both ends of boiler! The front is stamped 50PSI there may be something before it but there is a fitting in the way! The back is stamped MJC 11/94 There is no roundhouse plate. To answer a couple of...

I know it's a bit late but for future reference steaming it. My sons a violin maker and its best to steam it over a kettle(as you are talking thin bits of wood) and then clamping it flat while it is still hot. Make sure it's well and truly dry before unclamping. It works to put a bend in it and work...

Searching for parts for a Dacre

Finally managed to log back in after months of not being able to! Now I don't know if I am posting this in the right category! I have recently acquired a 'Dacre' and I purchased it as non running, mainly due to the fact there is obviously some parts missing! Also it hasn't been fired for about 10yea...

If you can think of a way bending as you go I do have some very  small stainless self tappers that could be screwed into the resin using pilot holes.  I could send you a few if you think it is feasible. Probably best done in conjunction with some form of glue as well. Thanks for the offer of the sc...
