Re: Mamod Quarry loco - hellllp!!
Thanks Chris It’s back with them again now. Steam chest on the left pouring steam out at any psi >20. I suspect there’s a warped or inaccurately machined surface in there somewhere. One piston rod gland came out mid run. The thing that baffles me is that it was fine on blocks but as soon as it was o...

Mamod Quarry loco - hellllp!!
Welcome Wednesday - Take Two (of ???) https://youtu.be/76u9lNIiIEc The fabulous team at Mamod received my broken (by me) brand new quarry loco on Monday repaired it and turned the wheel centres down to give me deeper flanges so that it wouldn’t bounce off on my LGB point frogs, as they did for my Bo...

Mamod Brunel
Hello Group
I’m quite tempted by a Mamod Brunel. Is there anyone with experience of fitting directional RC to one? The FeckHallBahn is ground level and not a loop; I need to be able to stop (and preferably reverse) trains remotely at the far end of the line.
Thanks in advance
Nigel.

Re: LGB rail attachment
Ha! It’s smack in the middle of two flexible track sections and also smack in the middle of a granite slab! I can live with it; it doesn’t cause any problems. Just looks messy. We had literally just had the (tiny) garden extensively remodelled and landscaped to what we’d wanted for 20 years when I w...

Re: LGB rail attachment
It would, but there isn’t room. It’s not a massive problem though, it’s only a headshunt extension and at the end of a baseboard. The track is floating nicely on ballast and I’ll reconfigure the station when I replace the plank it’s sitting on. image.jpg I had to take the main line lot out again thi...

Re: LGB rail attachment
They’re soaked in yacht varnish, hopefully that will do the job.

Re: LGB rail attachment
That’s almost exactly what I ended up doing but with M2 self tapping screws for the first bit. I used panel pins for the next bit but without the half moon shape (because I didn’t think of it). Two more places to do still I’ve now sorted out the warp visible in this IMG_5428.jpeg The sleepers here a...

Re: Camera Vehicle
I do that using my Apple watch as a remote control for my phone camera for my track inspections. Absolutely no need for it but it’s fun! Only problem with driving ‘live’ is lag and occasional watch screen freeze. Wouldn’t trust it with live steam

Hi - this looks spot on. What’s the power source; reviews on the product page aren’t particularly helpful!

Re: Camera Vehicle
It’s definitely worth a try, thanks.
However. The entire existing wagon fell to bits earlier so I’m going to build a new one - with suspension and a vibration damping tripod mount!

Happy New Year from the FeckHallBahn
New Year’s Day 2024 on the FeckHallBahn https://youtu.be/r4PotjKO6rk Filmed at all the FeckHallBahn’s main line stations over the course of a couple of hours on 1/1/2024. We start at Hornundtrompetebahnhof. Keith bustles off to Tiefeshorn where it will take up banking loco/Hilflok duties - wet and c...

Me again! My camera wagon, for on train filming, is a fairly knackered chassis scavenged off a defunct brake van. The camera (iPhone) is attached to it using a tripod mount. I’m going to replace the wagon - any ideas or solutions for making it less bouncy? Full line inspection following Storm Gerrit...

LGB rail attachment
Happy New Year to all Soaking wet here on the FeckHallBahn but I did manage to run a few trains. I’ve got quite a few gaps where the plastic sleepers have pulled free from their rails and in places where secondhand track had more rail than sleepers. I want to replace them with wooden sleepers (I hav...

#workshopwednesday - a rolling road for the FeckHallBahn. Bach Chorale accompaniment
https://youtu.be/bFVBVa9f3c8 Totally gobsmacked by the cost of commercially available 45mm gauge rolling roads I decided to build my own. Everything I needed was already to hand so all it’s cost me is time. Built using an off-cut of plywood, Meccano and some rollers I already had. The Bach Chorale I...

Re: Season’s Greetings from the FeckHallBahn
It is! There are four dotted around the garden - all completely clapped out with vital parts missing. The one nearest the railway (at E Flat Corner) is actually a tenor cor - a short lived right handed instrument with a backwards facing bell that was intended to replace tenor horns in brass bands. T...
