Re: Snowplough in Summer

It’s not really a rebuild, I’ve just called it that to keep peace with the domestic authorities; utter bargain on Ebay. It’s 100% scratch built and very well done. Wood, brass and foam board for the superstructure and a metal & wooden chassis with cast axleboxes, metal wheels and what looks like...

Snowplough in Summer

A little bit of FeckHallBahn silliness. Hope you enjoy it! Snowplough Acceptance Trial ✅ https://youtu.be/KdC6eVHaw6k Introducing Alderman A E Scraper 2 As seen in yesterday’s short video our homemade snowplough, 5305 Alderman A E Scraper, has had a rebuild. Well, ok, more of a replacement really bu...

Great, Thank you Peter.
The track is laid directly onto granite slabs - I may not get away with using it BUT I do have a fair bit of left over roofing felt...

Ballast - SBR

Evening All - as my daughter would say when she’s acting out a stereotypical aspect of her job!! I use 3mm horticultural grit for ballast, mixed with wood ash. It’s pretty stable and works well. However, I need something that will stay put if we get another deluge like the other week which washed mo...

The signals are a mix of homemade & very old and battered Hornby O scale on sticks.

🙂
There are a few more dotted around. They come from Bewdley Brewery’s Baldwin IPA to which I’m rather partial!

Re: FeckHallBahn goes a little bit Peckforton

Yep - they’re nearly all R1!! The railway started out in 2020 (like so many) with the gift of an LGB Stainz starter set. It was far too developed to be rebuilt with easier curves by the time I realised that any such thing even existed!! My neighbours are probably delighted that there’s no flange squ...

FeckHallBahn goes a little bit Peckforton

New (legendary!) Wagons https://youtu.be/BHyWnB-xpYg Yesterday, the FeckHallBahn took delivery of two freight wagons. Not unusual perhaps but these were formerly on Rik Bennett’s absolutely wonderful Peckforton Light Railway; a railway I’ve been watching in awe since I started garden railwaying in...

Re: Bullfrog Snot

Thanks Phil
Yes, I'm dead rail so that won't be a concern.
The problem area is a very steep (ridiculously unprototypical at 1 in 8) and I'm certain that the issue is caused by the rail being too polished!

Thanks Rik
She is rather fine isn’t she? Suffering a bit with adhesion issues on the incline at the moment; heat seems to adversely affect the rails and I’m having to roster a banker right now.

Bullfrog Snot

Hi I’ve just ordered some Bullfrog Snot, the hot weather seems to play havoc with some old Aristocraft copper track on a steep gradient. I’m slightly concerned that it will have the effect of reducing flange depth (most of my track and all points are LGB brass) and cause problems over frogs. Any adv...
