A lot of hardware stores carry various wicks as well, they're often in the camping area with kerosene lamps/lanterns and tiki torches.

Welcome to the forum! Looks like a nice setup, loco seems to handle the steep inclines well. ![ ](./images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Re: interesting layout
Very impressive!! My only comment is that some people have way to much spare time on their hands, wish I did. And space! It took a minute for the scale to sink in, but I've just realized that layout is bigger than the footprint of my house. No chance of that fitting in my basement or attic, it'd ha...

Re: Dulais Rock Railway locomotives.
Brilliant models! I especially like the Bagnall as what I wished I could've built for my 'Thornas', if I only had the design skill to pull it off. Your situation sounds a bit like mine, though my two kids are somewhat younger... I've learned to accept some damage from continued 'toddler testing' (cu...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway
That stationary engine looks very good Drew, I may have to join the "Stationary Engine Club" myself.  I do like the sprung boxes. Have you done any load tests to see what they can cope with without bottoming? Completely unscientific, but it seems to spring nicely with a 12oz ca...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway
Those axle boxes look neat Drew. Have you got an stl for them. Also the stationery engine is well printed and I like the colour too. :thumbright: Thanks Rod! I was digging around for a long-neglected tube of green paint when I came across "engine red", so I thought why not? Four coats lat...

Re: Nolwyn Valley Tramway
Dull month on the NVT as we've been traveling and busy with other (arguably) more important projects. I was playing around a bit with designing some new axle boxes and thought it might be fun to put actual springs into some of them... Why not? A set of legs like that could feed a family of four!

Bad Droid, with your recent animal encounters you could probably have a tanker full of rattlesnake venom or killer bee honey! ![](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Re: Big Maple & Little Oak RR
Nice! Is that HO or Gn15?
Thought of you this weekend as I was driving up 151. Saw a lot of maples and oaks but the only railroad I saw was the 1:1 scale crossing on the highway.![](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)

Re: Sheehaun Light Railway
That's what I thought as well but it seems to work for several people who've tried it with good results. I looked into it but they're hard to get this side of the pond, so I made my own loosely following Rik's guide. Unfortunately the kids dismantled it before I had a chance to put it outside, but r...

I think black or rust would've been more likely depending on the period. I was visiting the Colorado Railroad Museum yesterday and spotted this on one of their cog railway locos:

Re: A very impressive water truck from America
Could be molasses if you have a slow enough speed limit, maple syrup for the railwaymen's pancakes, coffee for the early bird freight service, oil & water, pigeon milk, old-fashioned churned ice cream, tears of your enemies... Maye even your own blood, sweat, and tears. ![](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Close, and I'd love to go there someday! That deserves at least half a point. I'm about six hours away but still in Colorado. Here's another clue:
