The "free" print time is one big selling point of a resin printer. (That and of course the detail!)
When I try printing a bunch of things at once in FDM, all I get is more points of failure.

Re: My Mamod Quarry - Update
Very interesting, I had planned to fit a pair of traction tires to the drive wheels of the new larger diesel I've been working on, but decided to start with just one tire. Given the tight curves of my line, it seemed like two might cause skipping with a solid axle between them (no differential).

I think it is Phil... I spotted that little peek of the drive chain!
Keeping my eye on this one Rik. I used one of those geared motors on Thornas originally and really like the (quiet) sound and performance.

Re: Chassis thickness.
Welcome to the forum! It sounds worrisome, but I'm more familiar with plastics and wood. What scale are you working with, and what kinds of loads/stresses will the locomotive be expected to handle?

I'm a bit curious how they got so close to, but not quite 1km... Didn't anybody have 10cm of track handy to stick on the end?
Regardless, it's a massive achievement and I have to give them credit for it!

Re: Quarry Hunslet
Looks great so far, will be following with interest! I had originally intended Thornas to be a quarry Hunslet so I can see some things I missed or oversimplified on my version of the frame already. (Out of curiosity, how does Luna compare in size to the Hunslet?)

Re: Film photo
Lovely! We collect film cameras (it just sort of happened) but haven't had much time for photography since the kiddos were born. (Aside from about 10,000 phone pictures of the kids, of course.) My favorite in operation is our Argus C3 rangefinder which was a wedding gift to my wife's grandparents an...

Re: Little Engine
Makes sense, small hands for little engines!
I was trying to search for that brand, but it's difficult to find because ultimately, pretty much all rail modelers have little engines of some variety. Is it the same company that makes the ride-on ones?

Looks amazing, love the trees! You really converted that all from 45mm to 32mm in the last few weeks? Wow! Something that caught my eye is the minimum-gauge mine railway up above...just watch for bears in that tunnel.

I didn't notice, but I see him now! I love that idea and should try to copy it... We mostly have generic figures but my preschool son has had a lot of fun with cartoon characters, action figures, superheroes etc. riding on the line. Time to sneak in some fun learning as well!

I've not found the significance of the oak leaf wreath A bit of a late response, and maybe not relevant to the discussion any more, but oak leaves are a national symbol of Germany with roots back to the pre-Roman times. I thought this article did a pretty good job encapsulating the connection... th...
