There is £18.28 left from the donation drive that Big Jim organised in 2017 so these funds will be donated once my name is no longer associated with the forum domain name and hosting.

Wooden dumb buffers
I am interested in how these are fitted to the buffer beams of locomotives such as Quarry Hunslets as I can't find any photos of how they are attached (possibly coach bolts?) The reason I ask is I want to replicate the actual fitment to my 5" gauge engine. Any photos of how they are attached wo...

Looks great, brilliant job.
Replace the cheese head bolts then it would be complete to my eyes.

Have you fitted R/C to the electric loco as it appears to start and stop without manual control?

Re: 5" gauge 0-6-0 Sweet Pea
I have tried to get into the habit of opening all steam valves slightly after blowing down - mostly to stop them from jamming as the cool - but it also stops a vacuum forming in the boiler. I have followed the same ritual since owning the loco and leave all valves open when not in use. Degreasing w...

Re: 5" gauge 0-6-0 Sweet Pea
It's been a while, time for an update. I fitted new commercial clack valves to the boiler back in August after one of them kept sticking open (after the last failed steaming I discovered that the ball valve in one of them had been sucked into the boiler). When I took apart the other valve I discover...

Hammerite is garbage paint these days, it will just flake off! I found these guys that supply smaller tins but it is listed as 'tinted', does that mean it is a mixed colour to order? https://paintersworld.co.uk/7300-combicolor-smooth-metal-paint-1?gclid=EAIaIQobChMItd6Vp4yE7AIVCuntCh3WDgfnEAQYAyABEg...

New van colour looks good.
Did you use the same paint range of the gloss colours you used as I can only find gloss type paint from the manufacturer you mentioned?

Hi Nomis,
What colour did you use on the chassis of your loco as it doesn't look like a gloss colour to me?

Use the screws on the wood then tack the felt down afterwards with galvanised roof nails.
