New Brake Van?

IMG_1271.jpeg
IMG_1271.jpeg (2.99 MiB) Viewed 767 times
I purchased this brake van for a rather fair price at the NEC railway show today. Anyone know of the origins of this brake van? It looks to be a kit built atop an lgb chassis but I could be wrong. Also is this based on a specific prototype from a narrow gauge railway?

Cheers,
Harry

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Yes this is the other side of the mine feeder line. The trestle does a very pointless loop out over the mainline track, around a tree on a rock outcropping, then goes back over a second trestle into the mountain. Maybe there was a terrible cave in and the line had to be rerouted out of the mountain...

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Intriguing glimpse of track on a trestle disappearing to the right .... ;) Ooooh ,yes??? I think that's the even narrower gauge mine trackway, referenced on page 1: https://gardenrails.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14798#p179429 It sure does catch the eye! Yes this is the other side of the mine feeder ...

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

I found this garden windmill ornament in B&M today. For £15 I thought I'd give it a go for the spot on the mountain where a building was intended to go. Though underscale (note the lgb building block next to the tiny door) I feel it just about works ( in a forced perspective way ) when viewed at...

I can highly recommend Rik's GVT brake van model. I printed it in FDM and it's a valuable component of the NVT roster. Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Also I'm yet to see someone build a garden railway wagon using just resin 3D printed components, though I don't see why this wouldn't work. You haven't looked in the right places then!  This link shows a Festiniog slate wagon that is completely resin printed apart from the wheels. It was...

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Thanks for all that Harry. Those wagons look superb and your painting method looks very useful. I use Agrax Earthshade a fair bit as well but tend to 'apply and wipe off', rather than overspray. I must try that some time. As for brake vans, you could try printing one? Rik has posted his stl's in ou...

Thanks!

It used to store all the electronics for the building lights. Now it’s just for the pond pump

Thanks Rik, miniature spruce do work well for garden railways, they have grown quite a bit since they were planted though

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

An update on the railway. The station area has now been swapped out for a goods yard. The new station will be built in the planted area next to the road. I plan to buy the pola gantry crane kit for the longest siding on the goods yard as this is where logs will be loaded onto the railway. The railwa...

Thanks! The trees were about 1/3 the size when we planted them in 2018. I hope they will stop growing bigger at some point, otherwise deforestation may become necessary...

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Hi Harry Looks great! What sort of size is the layout please? Hi Stuart, I don't recall the exact size but it occupies a 6-ish x 7-ish metre raised planter. A small strip then connects this section to the storage shed. the line passes through the shed to another raised area that is about 1.5 x 2.5 ...

Re: Tytherington Light Railway

Looks amazing, love the trees! You really converted that all from 45mm to 32mm in the last few weeks? Wow! Something that caught my eye is the minimum-gauge mine railway up above...just watch for bears in that tunnel. The 45mm came up surprisingly easily so I was able to pull it all up an...
