As someone that lives in the US and is a member of the 16mm Association, trust me, the membership/subscription cost is more than worth the money. You get more out of one issue of SMT than an entire year of some other garden railway publication here in the states. There is a Canadian group, and a new...

Thanks Tony, know of the design, a thing of envy for those of us without metalworking/machine skills!

Makes a good looking tram loco for sure.

Guide for rail height and pound rate (flat bottom type - US)

Handy information for those that consider the scale of their track means more than just the gauge.

Pounds and inches in height.

I liked the old as-built Corris coaches. I have an old 4 wheel trolley kit from the (US) maker Northeast Narrow Gauge that looks similar. Have had it for years, need to build it.

Would love to learn more about that tram loco, it looks nice Tony!!

I have wondered, are the traction engine boilers longer than the steam loco, and same diameter?

The K4s were the mainstay of Pennsy passenger service through much of the network up until the end of steam.

Thanks Chris, it is nice to get back to steam-stuff after the unfortunate rough start to this year. Let me look into this when I have time (Sunday or maybe later tonite) but I am using isobutane/propane mix (it was about 70F yesterday also, but the tank did get cold) and look into the set up. Ironic...

Bix burner woes....

All- Keeping in mind I don't know a thing about gas firing.... I am trying to get my dad's Max up and going. He was told to buy a bix burner for it. So far, I am having issues with the burner. They are as follows: 1. The fire seems to flash and dance around the burner, and more often than not, burn ...

Or a bunch of UK vanity auto registration numbers? We actually get to spell things with ours in the US and it costs under $100. :D Anhow, another method that does work I learned from a friend who restores tinplate US trains. Boil the parts in a pot of water with powder type laundry detergent....assu...

Right now.... RWM Janet - £445 RH Basic [Bertie/Millie] - £598. Accy Ragleth [closest to Edrig] - £750 or £640. with a comparitivly low price like that in this current economical climate Id say the winds just right for the ossy locos to take the world back  ;) Very possible Pauly. For whole Janets, plus the growing spare parts clientele too...:D So, hoping a healthy future for the Janets  ;) Thing is, Accucraft did replace the Edrig with the Ragleth. Sure, closed cab but the cab is open at the back for easy access, like the Caradoc. It's the Lawley with the closed-off cab th...

I suppose we will never see anything quite as charming as the days of real mamodry and Make-Do-Modification in this world of well served modelling Agreed.  I have been snapping up old UK magazines from the 1970s/1980s, the early days of 16mm and a lot of basic stuff, some of it downright crude, but...

Another recommendation is to get the "drive train" built and running on air for a while, I did it on my two locos for about half an hour before completing. Use plenty of machine oil.

Now these days not many people seem to know about the Jane and there's certainly not that many kicking around so did Jane ever take off in any real way or was she just there in the background while other locos took the glory? That is the problem with this Forum. The Mamod stuff was moved into this ...

The reverser and bodywork and the center brace are the alingment bits. Yes, it can take some work to get the frames bind-free with lcoking wheelsets.
