Re: 3D print people figures
do some more research before using any more credits. I don't want to subscribe as I can't see enough use for me, so I don't want to waste any. Paul, Your various points are all correct, of course, and I don't intend to take a subscription either, but as I understand it, editing and altering things ...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
As Rod says, that does look nice.
I'm a great one for adding interior detail to things, but with windows that small it does seem a wee bit pointless putting seats in this one!

Lets do the timewarp again...!!
Seriously, I really enjoyed those, particularly the drivers eye view round the line.
All your hard work was definitely worth it.

Re: 3D print people figures
What's not so good is some files have multiple holes in them, so won't print. It seems there'll be some repair work needed before I can actually print one and a learning curve on how to do that :-( Don't know if this might help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH9ULZUB3gM The since I registered the...

Re: 3D print people figures
That looks pretty good Drew. I would say the variations from the original are about on par for the way it modified my photo yesterday. I doubt that there is much that can be done about that other than taking it into Blender and manually correcting things, and that is something I don't even want to c...

Re: 3D print people figures
Seeing your axeman , I had an idea and tried an experiment. I put in "Festiniog and Blaenau 4 wheel railway coach". I got 4 very different offerings, none of which more than remotely resembled a prototype, which was no real surprise, I didn't really expect it to know a pretty obscure and s...

Re: 3D print people figures
Really interesting. The poses so far all look fairly upright and static, I wonder how it copes with a figure in a more active pose. I'm away from home at present but will start experimenting when I return home. Presumably, being AI, it will learn from experience and so the more it does, the better ...

Re: 3D print people figures
As well as describing a person to generate a model, it also has the ability to generate a 3D figure from a 2D photo. I've been playing  and, from L - R... a lady in a sparkly dress... the basic generated model... the same thing textured... a rear view of the textured version, which is obviously...

Re: 3D print people figures
What was the text prompt you used to create that figure. Hopefully, we don't have to brush up our schoolboy French..... :? Rik, I've been having a deeper look at this and think I'm making some progress. There are quite a few Youtube etc so-called guides which almost without exception are ai...

That looks most impressive... I did wonder if AI would ever get useful for us. I've tried and got nowhere, personally! Please keep us uptodate as you progress... even if your wife does do the painting. EDITED to add that I've just had a quick play online and it does work pretty well. The trick...

Re: Stock Car build for my cattle line.
Yep, I make handrail knobs similarly. I have some half-round brass wire, bend it to a U-shape over the handrail wire, then nip it up tight to effectively form a custom split pin.

Yes I have it bookmarked - but thanks for telling me I might not have known about it. I used it for Tan-y-Grisau in particular.

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
So the suggestion was to model the other terminus Dinas, which went out of use somewhere around 1880. That does fit much more easily - not an accurate model you understand - but a passable impression of it. This is a rough track plan: That building is looking good, up to your usual standard. :D Don...

Re: What is it? An F&B 0-4-2
I've just come across this page from Windsor & Newton. https://uk.winsornewton.com/blogs/articles/indian-red?country=GB As respected artists paint suppliers, I'm inclined to trust them over random commercial paint suppliers. Whether their versions are close to the Festiniog colour is still unkno...

Re: Sprung points (turnouts)
This subject raises its head every couple of years but I'm not sure anyone has reliably cracked it. If you do a search for "trailing points" you'll get 20-odd hits going back to the forums early years. Getting the spring tension exactly right is likely to be a tricky point (!) and of cours...

Re: What is it? An F&B 0-4-2
Thank guys. The problem is that "Indian Red" as such doesn't appear to be codified. I suppose that isn't unexpected given that it is/was based on a natural mineral which must have varied in colour depending where in India it was originally quarried in the early 1800's - just look at the co...
