I am a little unsure of the principle of the lubricator, with the oil outlet at the bottom it cannot be a displacement lubricator. How does the oil get out? It seems to work, in that the oil disappears from it, leaving it nearly empty. The hole at the bottom is to let the denser condensate out, the...

Three departments of the LNR have been quite busy this last week. S&T of course have been getting on with the installation of the signal operating equipment. WARNING! Signal purists should not read on. Bit late to this party, as ever these days. Excellent - I like the McK&H touch of the ext...

Bit late to the party; but this might help - the NWNG did quite a trade in Workmens tickets, and it would appear from looking at their timetable that there were suitable paths in their diagramming that would cater for weekly and daily workmen. Given the nature of the quarries, I'm sure that there wa...

It very much depends on your method of construction.

If you are sticking slate to a vertical surface using silicone - forget it; if you are using silicone as internal glue for the horizontals in a wall - perfect.

I think you're just being impatient. They're a great company to deal with and get a lot of fairly rare stock. They're doing all the 'right' stuff legally, so I wouldn't worry.

Thickening: I've reduced paint by gently boiling off solvent or adding fuller's earth. Corn Starch/Custard Powder can make strange things grow..

I have a near complete set of VR S&T drawings and the majority is Australian-made McK&H equipment.

Re: signals

Bit late to this party too, but I've been meaning to reply for ages.. I think the arms look slightly overscale - but then it could be argued that on narrow gauge railways there wasn't really a 'standard' size Well; yes there was - though maybe not between railways, but on the same railway the signal...

I'm prepared to believe that they're models in development, but like DDLR they would have to be absolutely spot on for me to consider one.

I do like the idea of a square, though. :)

CAD

What's the easiest and most intuitive freeware 2D CAD program, hivemind?

I'm playing around with Draftsight but it seems like an uphill struggle.

Anyone got any recommendations, please?
