Re: NGG16

That's going to be very impressive....where did you get the drawings from? Are they readily available anywhere?

Re: PDF single Fairlie

That's a lovely job! I'd be happy if mine was anywhere near that good.

Re: PDF single Fairlie

The cab thing (whilst a silly mistake) does hint at the only real issue with this kit so far....mine came without instructions (I assumed a mistake) but I've had it confirmed that there are no written instructions.....there is an online video showing the construction of the power bogie but nothing f...

Re: PDF single Fairlie

Thanks all, I very nearly went for the Baldwin and it's definitely still on the list but the Fairlie just beat it in desirability. I decided to have a better look over lunch and I remain impressed. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEVpRB3kh0qkb6vgdqrbNpfbMz4nnMaYvMAjnEtYZnXR8rZ5hCkZVD10KVbgT...

Re: PDF single Fairlie

Thanks Rik,
Usually terrible at remembering to take photos during the build rather than at the end but I'll make a conscious effort here. It will benefit me too as I'm hoping to pick up some construction tips for my ongoing B-class design and build.

PDF single Fairlie

After some delays due to the current state of the postal system, my Christmas present arrived today. First impressions are good and I look forward to building it but will do a proper look over it later. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AL9nZEUWLwUKH2y6GRliI0nfSKWJeyxDLY5RnPhflHynhqVU5ZyM-ckiSOkc...

Re: Looking for feedback

I think it's pretty good and captures all the key points...I like that there are links to various example builds too. The only thing that I can think of for a beginner guide is details of where to get things like the low melt solder / best epoxy glues etc. But that's being very picky.

Re: Help please - if you can

I've identified the bottom left photo as the Tacna - Arica Railway on the Chile Peru border. I think they are Sentinel Railcars but am willing to be corrected if anyone knows better. They do certainly look Sentinel like...I had a look through my copy of the sentinel locos and railcars book and I fo...

Re: Resin components left outdoors

I use this one Amazon Brand -Eono ABS-Like 3D... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B091C4XVGC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It's a lot less brittle than most resins and gives good results. Please forgive the "non garden" scale model but hopefully gives an idea of the results that can be obtained (and...

Re: DHR B-Class project (Mainly 3d printed)

That might be it Steve...I've been sidetracked with an oo9 model that has taken far longer than expected but this is next in the queue so hopefully some more progress soon

Re: Bargain for Resin and PLA+ @ Amazon

Phil P's suggestion of a bad batch is certainly credible.....I once started getting issues that went away once I finished that particular bottle. Did you check the recommended cure time settings for the resin? Each will have slightly different manufacturers suggested settings and it may be worth add...

Re: Resin components left outdoors

How thick are these items? Unintuitively, resin seems more robust for thin sections rather than thick or solid items....I suspect this is because the inside takes a really long time to cure especially with darker resins. Prolonged UV exposure will cause internal stresses.to develop leading to cracki...

Re: Bargain for Resin and PLA+ @ Amazon

I've used the grey and it cures nicely.....I think the translucent stuff will cure quicker especially thick sections but I haven't tried it.

Re: Bargain for Resin and PLA+ @ Amazon

I am a big fan of the eono (Amazon own brand) abs like engineering resin....I've had some really good results and its far less brittle than many resins (it can be drilled and tapped etc.)

Re: Choosing and Using a Resin printer

I've got an Elegoo Mars 2 pro which has been excellent....I too also have a filament printer and originally thought I'd only use the resin machine for oo9 models and small details parts in 16mm but I now find myself hardly using the filament printer. With hindsight, I wish I had gone for a larger ma...
