Talking of cheeky photos you've probably seen before..... ;) I did this repaint with waterslide transfers made for me by 'Chris's Bespoke Transfers' for a fraction of the price. You do have to be very patient though, as the corners are separate from the straight sections. A lot easier than doing OO ...

Narrow Planet are fantastic for custom plates, very reasonable too. No connection etc, but very satisfied customer. Steve is really helpful, sends proofs for size and style approval before etching etc, top guy.

Re: Avontuur railway Walmer branch Bagnall

Does anyone remember seeing those old videos of the Beatles when they first arrived in America...how the girls were screaming, fainting, and practically pissing themselves when they first got glimpses of the fab four getting out of their aeroplane? That's almost how I felt when I saw these pictures...

Ok... It seems all hell has broken loose in the short time I've not looked on here... Has it? I've just seen a reasoned discussion about which equipment to use (including some useful and now saved links), and the respective costs of DIY and having somebody do the job for you. Have I missed somethin...

What's a microballoon please, as 'planes aren't my area! Well, 38 years ago with a PAW 1 1/2 diesel in a flying wing on control lines they were..... I think all constructive hobbies have lessons to lean from each other - the weathering of military models for instance.....superb. I have seen t...

I'm with you on the Vigors, awkward to mount but very useful. Perhaps my engineering background drives me to specify equipment with a larger factor of safety, but in general I'll fit the biggest I can squeeze in....within reason! HS82's are 3.4/2.8, and I have never had one go down.  Ask yourself wh...

With respect, those servos will NOT do the job!! Out of curiosity why would those servos not do the job? I suppose for overkill you could always use MG90 @ about a fiver each. I think it's all been said above by others really, but you do need to consider the torque output of those little servos? - ...

Did you say you used engine enamel on the body? Was this from Halfords?

I just found the can, it is 'Simoniz' engine enamel in a blue can, gloss for the bodywork and matt for the smokebox. I did think I had used BBQ stuff on the smokebox but was mistaken.

When fitting r/c to a friend's indian red one, we ran it without the bodywork on, it looked like Bellerophon!

In the meantime, here's a shot to keep everyone appalled...

As a well known Tan advocate.... I should mention that the colour does not reproduce well photographically, (recalling the 'my eyes, my eyes' comment about my Fowler!) in reality it is much darker, and an almost light warm brown rather than orange. Also, it's not always the same colour, I have a pho...

Yes, to be fair to you Tony, 'other painters may be available' A professional job would be a sight better than my efforts too. :?

I love the job you did on Chris Bird's 'Bertie' by the way, made a super job, really lifted it.

Ah, like the comment about the Adams radial tank - yes, it is reminiscent of them as much as the 02's mentioned earlier. The MNR livery really does leave me cold, it's an odd thing as I like Cale herself so much. Oh, she was 2 different shades of 'old' green by the way, before the indian red, accord...

I second the VoR comment, mine is green and I don't really like it! I bought it from stock at PPS and I should have waited and gotten a tan one. They look nice black too though. Flushed with the success of painting the Caledonia black, the VoR may change colour next year. I do like the victorian mar...

Did I mention I have a blue one too.....   Winds the locals up.... I really don't like the original MNR livery, just too twee for my tastes, and the Indian red is....yeuch.   Was she dark green?  I'll have to go and read DLJ's book again!  She was of course very briefly Ailsa green. ...

Well, it's obviously not a model of Caledonia since it's No12 not No15, so our three-legged friends have nothing to be upset over. Clearly Dubs must have built more to the same design for other customers. BR livery but non-standard number is reminiscent of the Isle of Wight. Skye narrow gauge netwo...

Manx Mafia are after me....

For this! :P  Rattle can paint, (engine enamel, doesnt go sticky when hot like acrylics) BBQ matt on smokebox, hand brushed Humbrol on wheels, lining and sneaky Leodest & Larivane crest by Chris Moxham (Chris's bespoke transfres - usual disclaimer). Like? Appalled? Discuss..... :!: http://i...
