Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

Splendid stuff Trevor, I could almost be tempted to try some sound! I really like seeing the motion on the loco. Peter, I'm always frightened the first time I drive a train across the trestle bridge, it's a very long way down if something goes wrong, and carefully follow it round the whole way. It's...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

A few minutes with Henry hoover and very gentle use of a scraper lead to this:- IMG_4043.jpeg The edging which had taken so long to apply in the first place was mostly cracked and loose so had to come off. Extra pins were applied in a number of places. I'll now see what happens - it has two chances!...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

Nature, and physics, will always win.. I think you should let the platform have room to 'breath', as once we get some proper sun, I think it will damage itself? Is there a thin surface, to the platform, or is it 'solid' plastics? Phil.P it's 3mm thick and on top of uPVC sheet offcuts. I wonder if y...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

I am hoping that by reducing the space between fixings the humps will become more of a minor ripple! Time will tell.

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

Being a sunny Sunday morning a couple of trains felt possible, first however it was necessary to correct some humps in the platform surface which arise when it gets warm. https://youtu.be/e0n-dQenjSk https://youtu.be/oke04voxcJU Trefor did some circuits with the Plateway Models balcony coaches and m...

Thanks Philip,

The straight bits were done with a one metre steel ruler as a guide,

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

With grateful thanks to Trevor, ace 3D print maker, there are now running in boards for the new station. They are double sided, two prints for each glued back to back using two part epoxy with a 6" nail for the upright. They were then edge filled with Perfect Plastic Putty, sprayed white and th...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill

Glad to see that you are making progress again with the digging. My garden seems wet enough to plant rice.

Looks like I might need to get to making the next batch of sleepers!

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

During the week Trevor came to visit and brought some stock. I wanted to try some bogey coaches round the layout to check they would run. They did!

The other visitor seen is Mollie.

Rod,

I hope we can arrange a time for you to visit when you’re in the area, late summer should be fine so long as it’s not the WLLR gala!

https://youtu.be/GcD_CKcissU On a frosty morning I wanted to try out my other Christmas present - a Ffestiniog sheep wagon 3D printed by Trevor - in a train with two other wagons new to the railway. They have an assortment of couplings, hook and loop on the outer two. I fitted three links to the fr...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

Thanks Rod, I hope you are fully back to health in 2024 and travelling about again. You and Ann will be very welcome to visit when you can get to West Wales. Like your garden mine is too wet to do anything, the grass is very slippery in places and tends to get damaged by walking on it. The picture s...

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd

Here is the new milk van out for daylight photographs. The camera is cruel and reveals I should have painted the roof edges dark grey. The numeral '4' was very fiddly to cut from the plywood fret without breaking .
