Don't get me wrong I refer to it as a frog. What I mean't though is that during my BR/RT/NR days no one at all has ever said frog or called it that. It seems it doesnt exist. I said once when I was M.O.M that a frog was cracked on a set of points to the P-way gang & no one had a clue what I was...

I'd still get the PPS. They are nice strong things. If you don't want to take bits off I'd gladly sort it for you.

take the cylinder off the chassis, then take the cylinder off its back plate, mount plate, whatever its called. You have two ports on this plate. You countersink the port on the cylinder (the actual bit that moves) to the distance between these ports on the plate.

take the cylinders off, and countersink the ports on the actual cylinder with a drill bit.  The size must be equal or as close as damn it to the distance between the ports on the cylinder frame.  This will curb its speed, I absolutely guarantee it (and so will Doug on this forum, who's Mamod's cylin...

thing is Doug, I have had two piston heads go, and one end cap go too. The problems seem consistent with DS cylinders.

Orinoco has old Jane cylinders.

safety valve is adjusted to 50 psi, in practice it settles to about 35 -40 depending on what the locos doing/hauling.

50 on my gas fired loco, and 25 on the meths fired one.  The gas fired one has a high pressure boiler and my reasoning is whats the point of having one if you don't run it at a high pressure?  I've also ballasted the loco out a bit to get more adhesion, due to the Mamod design being nose heavy.

well I'm just a poor apprentice, making a bit on the side from doing jobs for people so I've never had much money. I'd say I'm fairly comfortable funds wise, I couldn't run out and get a brand new Roundhouse loco, but I have enough to pay for bits so I can build my own locos so thats good enough for...

hmmm yes I suppose. Right then, only other thing I can think of thats interesting and not been done before is a C class Darj pacific though it would probably be considered too expensive. Would make for a beautiful loco though.
