Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Evening Ted, I've never done it with the goodall removed from the boiler since I did the mod. What I did was take advice & buy a proper water refill bottle. The one I ordered was a regner one which is still to arrive. I have managed to get my roundhouse bottle to fill the boiler though so to spe...

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Sure Ted I will post a picture today, I've steamed her about 6 times now & she's loosening up now, I had the burner set higher & it seems to run miles better, the safety valve lifted correctly too whilst running. I've a feeling this one needs a little more fire to get the best results. She s...

Re: Roundhouse mk1 Taliesin charging questions.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to give it a go today because I steamed the loco last night & the battery died so it needs a good charge.

Tony I will go with what the strikealite battery says. I thought it would be something like that.

Cheers

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Hey up Ted,

I cut mine last night & it's working, I still get spray back but it's filling the boiler, you can tell by the spikes on the pressure gauge & water gauge glass.

Re: The Roster Grows

I've recently got the exact same peckett you have. It's an excellent steamer & it'll happily run at a slowish speed & it'll restart its self if it looses a bit of steam pressure. I absolutely love mine it's one of my favourite locos.

It has a surprisingly good haulage capacity too.

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Phil, I've got a bottle winging it's way to me from Strikealite. Unfortunately the regner dealer is out of stock of top up bottles. Right, following Marks advice at GRS I've done a modification to the goodall valve by taking off a slice of the silicone tube. Unfortunately at the moment I cannot take...

Best glue for nameplates on live steam.

I'm wanting to fix some nameplates to a loco & as the saddle tank gets rather hot I was wondering what is the best adhesive to use to stick the plate to the loco.

Any reccomendations?

Cheers

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Right chaps an update. I've spoke to Mark at GRS & he has told me to cut some of the silicone tube on the goodall valve to shorten it. Its tight sometimes & makes the goodall valve stops working. The oil issues isn't an issue as such. It uses very little oil so that's a bonus. I'm going to g...

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Phil, On your advice I've found & ordered the regner top up bottle. 2 of my friends told me to order a proper top up bottle years ago although I've been using my roundhouse ones ever since. Ted, As we are both having the same issues I will report back on the goodall valve once the regner bottle ...

Re: How long is your backlog?

I've a fleet of wagons all built but awaiting the paint shop. Apart from that I am a slow burner with coaches. I've at least 4 coaches that are at various stages of completion. Wagons I can knock together pretty qui key but coaches just drag on a bit & it takes me a while to finish them off. I a...

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Cheers for the taster Ted

Your model seems to run exceptionally well at slow speeds. Have you done a haulage test with it to see how much she pulls?

Going to knock up 6 or 8 slaters Dinorwic slate wagons for her to pull.

Roundhouse mk1 Taliesin charging questions.

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a little help please. I've got a mk1 Taliesen & when I got it she had no instructions or charger. As this version has batteries in the tanks I wonder if anyone can tell me what miliamps to charge it at? I'm guessing it's 15 hours charge time?

Cheers

Re: Bowande/GRS Quarry hunslet

Well I have got to hand it to John at Grs. He has had a headache with dhl getting it back to the shop with them saying they've been to my house on several occasions for no one to be home even though we've waited specifically for them to arrive. The models gone back & John couldn't believe it had...

Re: This weekend I have been mostly building....Slaters slate wagons

Thanks Andrew it was a great weekend, I'm just about recovered from a few choice drinks. Unfortunately the England is going back to Roundhouse, it has issues. It will not stay lit, I can get it to light but it soon goes out & will not re light. Gas is hissing from the burner but it will no light...
